The Three Crowns, hotel in Chagford

Located within the Dartmoor National Park, The Three Crowns is a 13th Century coaching inn with 5-star accommodation.

First room wifi didn’t work. Owner seemed first annoyed with me but I asked for another room, he gave us a much better, more spacious room. Staff was very nice. Dinner was good.

Excellent location, lovely staff and it had a very homely feel to it. Nice breakfast and had everything you need from hooks next to the shower, comfortable bed to herbal teas in the room. If the sun would have been shining it would have been nice to spend some time in the pretty garden with the bird feeders.

Meadowlea Guest House, hotel in Chagford

Meadowlea Guest House is located in Okehampton and 5 minutes' walk from the town centre with a variety of pubs and restaurants.. Free WiFi access is available.

The room was ideal and cleanliness is important to me. I was able to relax and rest after the long drive from Kent. After a 2 hour rest I was able to cycle the Granite Way and overlook the viaduct to the valley below. This was an option of an adventure off the beaten track and some exercise after a long driving experience. I was on my way to Cornwall and this seemed like a natural stop and I only had about an hours drive after Okehampton. I am not a big breakfast person and just had a bowl of porridge however, the owners were able to supply me with a bacon sandwich for my journey. Tea and coffee supplied and I managed to watch a Euros match for a short time. Excellent one night stop.

Our room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The area was quaint and quiet. The price was reasonable which made it affordable for us. The breakfast and atmosphere were just right. All the staff we spoke to were polite, helpful and made us feel welcome. The hotel was a historic building which added to its magic.

The cottage was adorable. Lots of lovely touches like a tray laid out for tea when we arrived. The bed was incredibly comfortable which was wonderful. Beautiful garden with added bonus of some rosemary and thyme in pots for cooking. Chagford is a great place to be based, four good pubs, butcher, two bakeries, a dairy, Spar, couple of farm shops and several cafes. We didn't use the car once while we were visiting as there were enough walking options to keep us busy. Frances and Peter were great hosts.
