Oh, what a treat our stay at Tegfan Garden Suite was! Not only was the cottage tastefully designed with a wonderfully outfitted kitchen but our hosts Helen and John were exceptional as well.
We arrived for our three night stay without any agenda. Helen gave us two well thought out days of activities with excellent dining suggestions as well. We didn't have to plan a thing.
The welsh products provided were delicious, delightfully including the products made by Helen. Breakfast from the provisions was a treat.
We were lucky enough to be there during lambing season. My husband loves lamb and bought some chops from the local butcher (who has a very nice selections of cheese, pies, olive oils, etc. in addition to meat). John arranged for us to use a fire pit including logs to linger outside after we barbecued the chops. It was lovely.
I can't imagine there would have been anywhere nicer to stay and enjoy the Brecon Beacons area.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
A very comfortable and well appointed cottage, small but with everything I needed.
The bed was very comfy, the shower excellent and the kitchen very clean and well equipped.
Gilwern itself seemed friendly, fairly quiet in the evening but with a pub and small supermarket within very easy walking distance..There is easy access to the Heads of Valley road making it a great location for exploring the Brecon Beacons.
As a lone traveller, I loved it.
Host Margaret was very helpful. The room had everything and it all worked. Location close to the city centre and a big Morrisons for provisions. Nice and quiet. Near a nice park.
Loved the ambience created in this quaint Lodge by the owner Gail who is a warm and welcoming host .. I saw her twice during a 4 n8ghtvsyay and did not meet another member of staff .. my room was impeccably cleaned each day .. most comfortable bed in a quiet location which is just a 10 minute walk into the town centre
Nice clean house, very close to centre around 10 mins walk,we really enjoyed our night there, very quiet area of Abergavenny! Would 100% stay there again! Great host and great communication thank you!!
Lovely cosy stay - the room and facilities were fabulous. Host was so helpful and breakfast was a treat. It's also a great location if you'd like somewhere quiet. Will definitely return for our next visit to Abergavenny.
