This was outstanding in every respect. The hospitality was second to none, the breakfast was both excellent and ample, the room was spacious and well resourced and the house as a whole had been beautifully and tastefully restored. In addition, the hostess, Evelyne, laid on two delicious evening meals (with an apple crumble to die for!).
We would be very happy to go back for a return visit.

It was just a such a lovely place to stay, and such a gracious host, and a great atmosphere. And we loved having breakfast in the garden - awith the home made chutneys from the fruits of the garden an unexpected and delightful touch. Superb!

We loved everything about Domaine des Forges de la Vache. It is an exquisitely renovated C15th Chateau in the French countryside, 2.5hrs south west of Paris.
We stayed in winter and almost had the entire Chateau to ourselves. We loved the outdoor sparkling clean Hot Tub and Sauna.
The huge self-catering kitchen is fantastic as is the beautiful dining and lounge, with open fire.
Our family room was on the first floor. It was beautiful and big with an enormous bathroom.
We loved it so much we decided to stay an extra night and if we didn't already have travel plans in Paris we would have loved to stay longer.
On recommendation we did a day trip to La Charity, a medieval town 10 minutes away and explored the C12th church. Wonderful little town to explore (but not much open in January!)
As the Chateau is in the countryside without any nearby restaurants we recommend stopping at the big Supermarche, 5 mins away, and stocking up on fromage, charcuterie and wine, then settle in to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
Renovations are continuing on the other buildings on this beautiful property, which will make this incredible place even better in the future. A real destination experience. Would love to come back to see it one day!

Very clean and comfortable room.Breakfast including.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Extremely comfortable, quiet and clean. The perfect holiday. Superb host, nothing was too much trouble. Secure parking. Lovely breakfast.
Nevers is a "hidden gem". I love the place more every time I visit.
The hotel is managed by a very charming host and is centrally located to all amenities. The garden chalet was an ideal option, and breakfast is served to your order in the decorative dining room. Having parking onsite was a bonus.I highly recommend the hotel.
Very welcoming hosts, the bed was extremely comfy, the area was quiet and only a short walk from the centre of Nevers. Private off road parking. Breakfast was good, especially the blackcurrant jam.
I highly recommend this B&B and would gladly return if ever back in Nevers.
Quiet, comfortable and very close to the city centre. Private parking a real bonus. Gwen our hostess was very welcoming and her homemade jam was so delicious we bought some!
Great location just across the bridge from the town centre with plenty of restaurants easily accessible. There is a beach 200 metres away where you can paddle and have a drink and during our stay there was entertainment on. Lovely place for a 1 or 2 night stay. Sebastian was a very friendly and hospitable host. Very pleasant stay with free parking at the hotel at the back of the gite. Would stay again.
The location, the whole set up of the café/restaurant and accommodation. Most of all the great hosts and personalised service.
And we also got recommendations for the best pizza in town and were introduced to another local bar where we were well looked after as the hosts had had a quiet word with them to make sure we were ok.
