I selected the Hospederia as I had read about the landscape of Cuenca and the Old City, so I wanted to experience both. The Hospederia did not disappoint -- the hotel was near the Plaza Mayor with an outstanding view of the river Jucar. Aside from location, the Hospederia itself, with its Baroque exterior and interior, and its still active use as a seminary, was part of the experience. The room decor was simple, somewhat austere without being uncomfortable, and gave me the feeling that I was in a religious learning place.

Nice room with kitchen facilities and access to a lovely terrace. Very quiet room on a pedestrian street with a comfortable firm bed.
The owner was very nice and accommodating and came by to help us when we had a problem. Even though she didn't speak a lot of English, we were able to communicate through google translate.

This place was an amazing find. We booked 2 Superior rooms and had spectacular views of the hanginging houses over the gorge. Our teenagers had a huge room with 2 sofas so they were happy and we had a room with two balconies and spent a lot of time hanging out there. The Posada is just up from the main square so we walked everywhere. This hotel had a lot of stairs and quirkey challenges (our room was slanted), so for travelers looking for a polished hotel should stay elsewhere, but for us we were happy with the uniqueness of this one of a kind boutique Posada de San Jose.
