Las Carolinas Garden is a good 3-star hotel on a plateau in a quiet, residential area of Santander.
Although it's about a 35-minute, downhill walk to the city centre, there are nearby bus stops from where you can avail of good services of the local public transport service (TUS) to get you quickly to the city centre (route 5C2 or 16) or to the city's lovely beaches (route 5C1). To take the sting out of your walk to the city centre, you can use the free Ascensor de Rio de la Pila funicular for a unique transit experience with a great view.
If you are staying more than a night or two, I recommend that you book one of rooms 102 to 105, respectively, which give you access to a spacious terrace with garden views.
We stayed for a week in room 105 and loved it. It was very comfortable with a large bed and a spacious ensuite bathroom. The shower was in the bath, which might be a problem for people with mobility limitations. All floors can be accessed by lift/elevator.
Our room was spotlessly clean, and was kept that way by the daily housekeeping visits. It was equipped flat-screen TV, a Nespresso coffeemaker, a small fridge, and free Wifi.
All of the receptionists we dealt with were very friendly, helpful and efficient.
The daily continental breakfast offered a good variety of fare in the hotel's nice breakfast room or, weather permitting, could be taken on the adjoining terrace, and the bean-to-cup machine delivered a decent cup of coffee.
While the hotel doesn't have an operational restaurant, there are a couple of good ones in the neighbourhood - the nearby Taberna de la Radio and, a bit further away, Solana de Davila across the road from the aforementioned Rio de la Pila funicular.
There is also a small supermarket of the Coviran chain nearby.
All in all, we greatly enjoyed our stay in Las Carolinas and would stay there again when in Santander (a great little city).

Very nice and kind hosts. The location is spectacular, next to some of the best beaches I have ever seen and not far from Santander. Price was great. Easy parking for free.
The hosts were so helpful and wellcoming, the place was neat and tidy. The diner was delicious and the view was spectacular. I would strongly recommend this place.
Everything was exceptional. The location was a super quiet and serene place, beautiful garden to sit and have breakfast (which was amazing by the way, the home made tortilla and cheesecake were fantastic). The rooms were super clear and the beds were made every day. The owner was really nice and helpful and gave us good advice on things to do around the area. There are restaurants a short drive away, the beach is at walking distance and the ferry from Somo is really convenient to visit Santander.
The team are exceptional, so friendly and kind. The hostel is in a beautiful quiet road, very peaceful. In the evenings the hostel has a nice bustle and good atmosphere.
Loved the peaceful location with stunning views, the friendly staff, wonderful food, the amazing massage I had, the fact it was clean and felt much nicer than an average hostel. Also, every bed has a plug socket and a lamp - win! And you can walk to the beach
Alejandro was a great host. He provided us with loads of information on the area. The location is very great, a small village near the sea. However, you will need a car. Not far away from Soto where you can catch the boat that takes you to Santander.
We had a really good time there, Alejandro was a great host and he was very prompt in responding to all our queries. The flat was very clean, comfortable beds, quiet location and 5 min to Langre beach.
