The experience of staying on an island that happens to be a Nubian village is something that adds to one's experience when travelling to Egypt. The property owner, who is a sweet Danish lady let us stay for 30 ore minutes past our checkout time. The manager Ibrahim was very helpful and told us about the normal prices for things in that area (something that's not easy to discover in Egypt). Bonus: the property is protected by a dog named Bobby who is very entertaining.

Taha and Hussam were super helpful, they made our stay nice and remarkable, I gave them late notice for early check up and they made it happen in no time and were ready for it.

This is by far the place where I felt the biggest hospitality from the hosts in my stay in Egypt. We arrived late at night and they waited for us at the ferry. It's around 5 min walk from there.
We had a nice view to the Nile river and the bed was good to have some rest after a long trip

If you are looking for a place to stay at in Aswan and you are considering Elephantine Island for your stay, then look no further. This place is the place to stay at. The location is great, the accommodations are great, and the host is truly great. He will make sure you feel at home and provide a great conversation. It is a short walk from the ruins and everyone knows the host. He will schedule the ferry for you if need be and will be message away if you need anything. The place was great and comfortable. It is definitely a diamond to find and to stay at.

The location was amazing our room had a balcony overlooking the Nile from Elephantine island and the rooftop had spectacular views. Ahmed the host did everything he could to support us during our stay, organizing breakfast, boat trips, and a taxi transfer to Luxor. Would highly recommend staying here. The locals on the island are very kind and considerate.

It wasn't just guesthouse. I felt like I was in my home. Guesthouse host is super kind and supportive. He would like to do everything that guest wants and needs. It isn't a thousand dollar fancy hotel, but if you are looking for a place where you want to feel comfortable like home, don't hesitate to stay here. (Certainly, location and facilities are fine.)
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
A great, quiet guesthouse with a very kind, helpful host. Abu will go out of his way to make sure you have what you need and are comfortable. I would stay here again.
Property is in a quiet area of Aswan, away from the noisy city. Crossing the street it has an exclusive area to swim into the Nile river or do some kayaking, which are rented for a cheap price. They also offer water and soft drinks and a small breakfast included. You can easily spend many days relaxing in the hostel, without even leaving to do attractions.
Zolly was and excellent host, his hospitality was warm and welcoming and he couldn’t be more accommodating. The guest house it’s self is a nice spot over over views over the Nile and Aswan. Facilities are all up to scratch and the rooms well equipped. The guesthouse offers excellent value for money and you can put a price on the hospitality Zolly offers .
The host was amazingly friendly, even inviting us to his nieces engagement party while we were there and we got to experience some authentic Nubian food!
The location is great, much quieter than staying on the east bank but also just a short and very cheap ferry ride over to the hustle and bustle.
The room was nice and clean with a bathroom, ceiling fan, heaps of cupboard space, supplied towels and a really comfy bed.
Would definitely reccomend!
- great host Ahmed and his family made our stay wonderful; he waited for us at the train station and took us to his guest house; made sure we have everything we need and helped organize trips for us; also helped us with getting medical help and medications
- delicious breakfast that you can enjoy with the river view
- clean room with AC
- guest house location is calm and quiet
This is a lovely, quaint guest house on the quiet side of Elephantine. We loved how peaceful it was and away from the hustle and bustle of the town: Mohammed and Basser were very accommodating hosts throughout the stay. A highlight being we got to go on Mohammed’s boat for a sunset journey on the Nile. Highly recommend!
Great location next to the Nile and 5 minutes on foot from the ferry. Also very nice rooftop to chill by the river. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Ahmed is a great host, we were able to take our breakfast in a bag when we had to leave at 4am. He can also organize a trip to Abu Simbel at a reasonable price.
Very nice location with a wonderful panorama over the Nile river and the desert,
very quiet area, the city center is still easily reachable by foot or minibus (cheap fares)
Friendly staff
Possibility to rent a kayak directly from the hostel
This is a great location, easy to access from the elephantine ferry boat port for a cheap ride and short walk. nice and peaceful. great host who is very helpful and organised felucca rides, boat rides and trip to Abu Simbel for us. there is a wee restaurant next door with yummy food - it takes a while to cook but is a nice relaxing atmosphere. breakfast is decent enough and served on the rooftop. the host is Nubian and the house is in a Nubian village. I highly recommend BAYT ZAINA.
