Some folks go above and beyond, and Patricio is one of them. He provides everything you need, and even at night gives you a hit water bag to keep your feet warm in bed. The rooms have great views, he’s a trained chef so you can purchase meals if you want, he has a kitchen for guests to use if you prefer. It’s a short walk up to great trails on the mountain, or to the lake if you prefer that. And his children are super friendly and helpful. A perfect stay.

The coffee and honey were amazing! The owner was incredibly hospitable. We liked that the property is outside of otavalo proper in a quieter part of town.

It's great hostel with very nice and helpful staff.
The rooms are spacious. There was hot water with no problem of switching between hot and cold water (unlike in many other places in Ecuador).
The brealfast was great, varoius and tasty
The location is great - a minute of walk from Terminal Terrestre, 10 minutes of walk from Plaza de Ponchos, 15 minutes from Aki supermarket.
There are also good restaurants in the area, but not all of them are updated on Google Maps.
There is no problem to leave your luggage before official check-in and after official check-out.
It has great value for money.

Fascinating place as it also has a @10m swimming pool & spa of which you have full access so exceptional value. The rooms are spotless & comfortable but be specific if you want en-suite which didn’t seem any more expensive. The staff were lovely A few minutes walk out of the centre but also conveniently to the bus station.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
My medical appointment was postponed and I had to make last minute plans to spend the night. I was very happy with the hotel. Very clean spacious room, attentive staff, quiet despite being in town. I would definitely stay here again.
I had an excellent stay at Refugio Terra Esperanza. Emerson was so helpful in answering all my questions. Excellent services. He cooked me breakfast for $3 and helped me call a taxi to Cumbre Imbabura (which I highly recommend). The place itself is rustic, but charming and cozy. It has great views of Imbabura and Cayambe, so definitely try to wake up early for that. Overall, I would highly recommend this refugio to anyone traveling here. Emerson is a great host and I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you Emerson!
Large room in a very quiet area of town. Large table for my belongings. Nice hot water in shower. Comfortable bed. Cleaning staff was pleasant, offered to clean my room daily. Host was very nice. He arranged for a taxi to take me to the laguna and return to pick me up, and rode with us to make sure the taxi driver knew where to pick me up and at what time. Place was only a few blocks from a great Cafe with good strong coffee - El Quinde Cafe.
The complex its big and well kept. Charming colonial style. they have 52 rooms. We stayed at a villa next to the mini golf, beautiful bathroom, kitchen with microwave, sink, small fridge.
The pool is heated with solar panels and is so well isolated from the wind.
Exceptional service and amazing breakfast: pancakes, eggs, fresh fruit and juice, yogurt with granola, bread, local cheese, butter and marmalade.
You notice it has its years but it is beautiful a d really peaceful, just before entering Ibarra.
