Excellent value for money. Homely spacious room on the ground floor with a small table and a couple of chairs, fridge, kettle and fan. Good wifi connection and a very chilled, friendly host. Also a couple of chairs outside the front door and a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal.

This place is so magical.. the rooftop is really the most amazing view of the valley at sunset. Value for money hands down this is the spot to be if you’re hiking a few days in Paul. They have a bar upstairs with food and drinks, super fun and friendly staff. Food is really good, vegetarian but hearty.

We stayed at The Retreat in December and had a fantastic time. The Irish owner (we can’t remember his name) was really welcoming and did his best to make every guest feel at home. You can tell that he truly loves the island, his job and has a passion for hospitality. The meals in the evening were tasty and copious. Nothing was too much in terms of dietary requirements. Dinners were shared as a group which was really handy to get to know people and share experiences and best treks.
On the last morning we were going back to the harbour and he gave us a lift. Thank you for a lovely time, we hope to be back at the Retreat soon as it was our favourite place on this beautiful island.

A very nice guesthouse in a beautiful garden. The location is great. Mercaderias and restaurants in walking distance. Sonia and Nuno the host are really friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast. Would come again.

It is just 5 minutes walking distance to the ferry and the restaurants.
Quiet location, 10minute walk into the centre of Port Novo. Fantastic island for hiking. Very friendly people. The owner Marie is a lovely person, nothing was too much trouble and she even helped me sort out my visa which was about to expire.
You will certainly not be disappointed if you stay here.

From the hosts to the decor to the atmosphere to the facilities and the rooftop kitchen and breakfast area it's amazing.
The hosts are lovely, and located just across the road from the guest house in case you need assistance with anything.
A 2 minute walk from the main high street where you have all the shops and cafes and restaurants.
Nice property off the road and a bit out of nowhere, but if you like quiet this is a great location then. No street dogs barking at night so you can have a very good sleep.
Good breakfast and meals.
Kind staff especially the French owner who gave us a lot of advices and helped to rent a car in a very short notice. He is building houses around for sale btw.
