Fantastic location with the rainforest on one side, the ocean on the other, bird song on one, waves on the other, plus many little spots on the premises to enjoy them, read a book, listen to the sounds.
Very helpful, informed, efficient and engaged staff. And interesting to talk to.

Amazing colourful hostel in amazing El Valle, in the perfect location at the end of the beach, close to a surf hut. Really difficult to get to from Nuqui but only a tuktuk from Bahia Solano. The wifi is limited but I think that's general to the town, not just the hostel. The staff were helpful with tours.
Utria hostel features an outdoor swimming pool and bar in El Valle. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace and a shared kitchen.

Facing the seafront in Bahía Solano, Choibana Ecolodge has an open-air bath and a garden. Each accommodation at the 1-star guest house has sea views and free WiFi.

The place is amazing, you can reach it within a quarter of an hour by boat from the town of Bahia Solano and it is absolutely worth it to enjoy the tranquility of the bay, the sea, spot whales and listen to their song.
The transport from the airport to the hotel is very well organized, the owner himself took care of organizing everything and made sure that everything went well at every step.
The staff is really helpful, kind and available at any time.
The food is simple but very good and whenever it is available, you can enjoy the excellent fresh fish of the day.
The location is the strong point of Choibana. Far from the town of Bahia Solano, it is like having a private beach, far from the light pollution to see the stars at night and far from the noise of the many boats crossing the bay, it is literally possible to immerse your head underwater and hear the whales singing. With a bit of luck the whales enter the bay and it is possible to spot them from the window of the room (keep in mind that not all rooms overlook the sea).
Facing the seafront in Bahía Solano, Posada Las Palmera Huina has a garden and a terrace. Featuring sea and mountain views, this guest house also features free WiFi.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Quiet beach setting. Very welcoming host with exceptional cooking using natural products. I was pleased to meet an independent women who is living off grid and is almost self sufficient. Dona makes the effort of arranging rides and tours and made sure we had a reliable ride back to the airport.
I stayed at Mailers Hostal for 2 weeks. It’s in a great location. Perfectly positioned halfway between the beach (where you can surf) and the town (where the supermarkets and restaurants are). There is a kitchen that you can cook in, meaning you save money on eating out.
Mailer organises tours and is really knowledge about the area so you can ask him for all the local tips to enjoy el valle to its fullest!
The hostel is a lot better value than the hostels on the beach and he really makes you feel welcome and like his house is your house!
Nice place to stay with good value for money. Mailer and his family are great hosts. The location is great - just a few minutes walk to both the beach and the town. I went specifically looking for jungle walks and mailer is the best guide around for this it seems. Very knowledgeable about the various flora and fauna of the surrounding jungle and he is able to take groups or individuals on both day and nighttime tours
Great hostel in El valle with a nice bar and terrace to chill out at. I spent a week here and absolutely loved my stay here. The staff is super friendly and overall it's a lovely vibe to meet people and have a good time.
Also best wifi in the whole town if you need to work :)
PROS:
- amazing views to the beach, probably the best in the village
- Monica is a great host who is engaged with the local community
- several different spaces to relax and watch the ocean
- nice chill vibe
Well situated in front of the sea. The hostel was confortable for us 2 adultes and 2 kids 11 & 9.
You can book the tours you want directly with the hotel. The staff is very warm and they make you feel at home. The swimming pool was a big appeal when we booked but once there, the kids had a blast with the very warm and wavy ocean instead. The ambiance at night is great with delicious viche cocktail until 11:00 and they do respect well the closing time so the nights are quiet for everyone to sleep.
Great location straight on the beach.
Nice filling breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs, sweet potato pancakes and corn bread.
Very friendly and welcoming staff.
They are always cleaning, which is necessary given the location.
Great tour options (whales, baby turtle release, frog walk) and they try their best to communicate with the agencies and get you into a tour, which is great since the whale tours are often cancelled last minute.
The views of the beach are spectacular from our room and social spaces. Everything was very comfortable, and an extremely relaxed atmosphere.
The breakfast was excellent with fresh fruits and juices cereals and eggs how you like, good coffee etc.
Monica was such a great host and so helpful about organising tours and recomendations of where to eat.
