Very friendly owner and sons, amazing value for money, good location close to the Fort and a big supermarket, plus a bbq grill restaurant next door (the walk to the historic center takes about 20 minutes). The room was clean, wifi worked well.

Everything is brand new, it’s super nice. great ac, great beds and showers. it’s far from the centro histórico though, this was fine for me since I stayed there awhile before. you can get a ride on inDrive app for about 20k pesos. it’s around 40 mins depending on traffic. this is a different side of Cartagena that I loved. I can’t recommend this place enough for the price. seemingly safe area, amazing owner and staff, Nicolas who’s there speaks perfect English so for other travelers no worries if you can’t speak Spanish. close to two supermarkets and local discotecas and tiendas

The location was great, and most of the staff were decent. We did have an issue with our stored baggage (left day of check out and then check in) and some miscommunication with the staff and subsequently they initially tried to charge us for this, in the end we didn’t get charged, but it was pretty obnoxious to deal with. They had free coffee available around the clock which was nice. There was a fairly decent language barrier with staff despite being in such a touristy area but nothing Google translate couldn’t tackle.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Great location! Very central and the pool is really nice during the hot afternoons. The balcony is also great. The apartment is surprisingly quiet for being in such a central area of the city. Very well equipped too. Great host, very responsive.
The hotel is a nicely decorated old townhouse at a great location in the middle of the old city center. Good breakfast buffet with fresh fruit. Nice pool, although it could use a better filter. We had a nice balcony with plants with good streetview. The double balcony doors kept most of the general city noise outside. The room was clean.
Good location in a quiet street, 5-10 mins walk from the historical centre. David was extremely friendly and helpful. Thank goodness the room had a/c! It s a described as a hostel, but I would call it a small guesthouse (5 double rooms, I'm pretty sure alĺ were en-suite).
Definitely a guest house and not a hostel, but David was so lovely for the entire stay and really went out of his way to look after all the guests. He even hailed and haggled with a taxi for me when I was checking out and going to the bus service. A very sweet man with a heart of gold. Room was clean and comfortable, and the place is on a super quiet street right in the heart of the action in Getsemani. Would recommend if you want a quiet stay, not a social hostel vibe.
Nice and chill hostel in a quiet neighbourhood just near by the beach and close to city center.
I stayed here a couple of nights with my husband and my 2 kids and we had a nice and enjoyable time. The room was perfect for us, it had a double bed and a twin bunk bed, which we appreciated with the kids. The room has aircon and has it's own key. The staff was lovely and helpful and the other guests were very chill and quiet by the time we were there.
I had a great time at Makako, this hostel made my stay as there is a super good vibe with the staff and the other guests.
The neighbourhood is nice and quiet, the beach and city center are less than 10 min walking, and there are supermarkets and restaurants all around the area. The hostel is very safe and has aircon in every room. I would definitely come back!
The hotel has a great location, you can walk from there to the city centre and everything you need. View from the rooftop is very nice. The room was quite quiet and very clean. Smart room was a little bit hard to handle, but once we figured it out it worked quite well. Breakfast was exceptional and felt very exquisite. Staff was very friendly. Also the small pool is very nice, overall an exceptional hotel where you feel very at home and cosy.
Nice and quiet hotel outside of the busy streets of Getsemani and the old city, just a 10 minute walk to Getsemani. Had a few problems with the paying, but sorted it with Richard's help. All in all good stay also because of the kitchen we could use. And Richard was a great host
