Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Rose the owner is amazing, warm, funny and caring. She speaks very good English and knows what to do and where to go. The place is charming and the location on the edge of the old town couldn’t be better. This is not for those looking for corporate luxury but an authentic experience with a perfect host.
I really like my room, I absolutely love this style of furnishing. I also really appreciated the electric blanket. In the reception area, one can sit comfortably and meet other travellers. The location is absolutely amazing, right in the old city center. I did all my sightseeing by walking from the hostel.
Kunga and his wife were very kind and hospitable hosts. They picked us up for free from the High Speed Rail station. Gave us a lot of travel information that made our stay in Shangri La an enjoyable one.
Room was cosy and very clean. Heater and electric blanket in the room were enough to keep us warm in the cold winter.
Located inside the Duzekong ancient town, food is easily available just outside the guesthouse.
Highly recommended!!
Great location, inside the ancient city so walking distance to restaurants, temples, shops…
The owners were great host, Rose helped us with everything: tours, taxis, breakfast.
Amazing decoration to get a real feeling of Shangri La style.
Amazing hosts, great location and very homely. You feel very welcome from the moment you arrive. The traditional Tibetan room was beautifully decorated. We appreciated the late check out too
The position of the guesthouse is in the middle of the Dukezong Old Town but in a secondary alley, that grant quiet in the night time. The building is very traditional and enjoyable.
First of all, we really appreciated how much effort the accomodating and friendly owners put in their cozy guesthouse. They made our stay homely and we felt very welcomed. We were given tea or hot chocolate in the colder evening and they served us fruit in the afternoon. Our room was clean, the bed sheets warm for the cold nights and the common area lovely decorated. Since the hostel is situated within the old town, the location couldn't have been better. We would definitely come to stay here again!
The hostel is in an excellent location, on a quiet street in the old town, moments away from the main streets and square. Although we had our own bikes, the free bicycle rental is an excellent addition and they're in good quality. Also the hostel cat is adorable and loving!
the location was perfect. Tina’s guesthouse might be positioned in a convenient spot, but the Tibet GH was just a 10 minute walk away and was quiet and away from the crowds with rooms with stunning views
