I had a wonderful stay here. The private bedroom was very clean and bed very comfortable. The private bathroom was super clean also. There’s a kitchen available for use, a washing machine for laundry and a line to hang clothes for drying. The lady who manages the hostel is very nice and welcoming. She speaks clearly and slowly, which allows someone with basic Spanish to understand. There’s a friendly cat that I liked having around. The location is a 5 minute walk from O’Higgins Plaza. One issue is the noise from the water pump that turns on and off every 5 seconds. This can be a bother at night if you have the room that is closest to it. Overall, a good experience. 10/10

Staying at Hostal Tulio Porteno was a little like going back in time to an era when commercial transactions were more authentic and personable. By the end of our 4 night stay, we felt as if the owners (Anais & Matias) were our friends. From the fresh breakfasts where everything was homemade (even the bread, yogurt and granola!) to the New Years Eve Party that they hosted (with full view of the famous Valparaiso fireworks) to discussions about tennis and Chilean literature and even the frequent visits from their delightful cats, we felt at home at Tulio Porteno. Anais and Matias provided great tips and recommendations, always checked in on us and our needs and indulged me while I practiced my not so great Spanish! I think that we got a real sense of what it is like to live in Valparaiso that we would not have if we'd stayed somewhere else. I hope to stay there again sometime!

Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. Location was good for easy access to a nice part of the city. There was a bus stop right across the street that you could take downtown or farther. We took it to Vina del Mar without changing buses. We had access to the kitchen and were able to warm up leftovers for lunch from a restaurant dinner we had the night before.

I enjoyed my stay here very much.
It's clean and quiet plus the staff is super nice and helpful. I loved that that gave me a map when I checked it, that was really helpful.
You get a nice breakfast and they have filtered water for you.
I appreciated the reading light at the bed.
The pillow was amazing.
The location is an easy walk to the central plaza.

This is probably the best hostal I've stayed in South America yet and I've been to Colombia, Peru and now Chile. The beds are soooooo comfortable and the space is unreal! You can literally stand up and walk while getting out of your bed!
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Great location - very close to all the sights of Valparaiso but also a very safe area. It is a quiet neighborhood which is great for a calm sleep at night.
Staff were so kind and helpful - special shout-out to Franco for calling a Taxi to the bus station for me.
The Hostel has its own Cafe with vegan options.
We loved everything about New Voga. Paula, our host, could not be more helpful. She contacted us before arrival, and we could check in early.
New voga is in a great, quiet location. The guesthouse was spotless. Fantastic breakfast.
Paula also helped us with booking our onward taxi and bus.
We would definitely go there again if in Valporaiso.
Pascal was a great host. He was there when we needed help and advice. Good continental breakfast. Great location, many good restaurants. Few minutes walk to the funicular taking you to the main Plaza. The rooftop balcony overlooks the harbor. Great place to chill out with a glass of wine.
Beautifully restored, tastefully decorated boutique hotel with ample interior and exterior spaces to relax. Walls adorned with eclectic artwork. Impeccably furnished garden terrace. Breakfast was excellent - best we had in Chile. Plentiful fresh fruit, savoury pastries, scrambled eggs, just squeezed juice and great coffee.
Filtered water was provided in the room and available on demand.
Great location. Would definitely stay there again.
Great location, within steps of restaurants, coffee shops and art galleries, and yet very quiet and private place. The room was spacious, very comfortable bed, and plenty of daylight. Access to the two shared bathrooms was never a problem, at any time.
We had a great experience with the host, and both check-in and check-out were smooth. Will definitely booth there again, the price-quality ratio is really good!
