Casa Adega Alto do Passinho

Terra Alta

Casa Adega Alto do Passinho, is set in Santo Amaro, within São Roque do Pico, in the scenic Pico Island. The Azorean property has a garden and a view to the sea.

Each room has a flat-screen TV. Some rooms have a seating area to relax in after a busy day. Certain rooms include views of the mountain or garden. For your comfort, you will find free toiletries and a hairdryer. Beautiful large lava house on a private rugged grass and fruit tree property in a quiet neighbourhood with a wonderful view but still within walking distance of the small charming town where groceries and coffee on the lookout can be found. A restaurant and "La Cabana", a dreamy chill-out bar tucked in the trees with stunning views is a 10 min walk towards town. A cul-de-sac is 5 minutes on foot the other way where at the end of the road you can sit on the lava retaining wall and listen to the pounding of the waves as the Sun dips below the horizon. Here you can contemplate the mysteries of life, if you are so inclined. The owner gave us a warm welcome and a tour of his extensive property. He was a charming and affable fellow, clearly spoken with a sense of humor, speaking and looking like the quintessential Azorean native gentleman we encountered frequently in our travels; willing to do anything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The kitchen came with all amenities. The TV might as well have had an inch of dust on it for all the good it served, for who would watch when nature, this pristine beggars the sense of awe of beauty overwhelming the senses. The upstairs sitting area and downstairs bedroom were comfortable and came with everything. The whole house was clean as a whistle. The hot showers had good pressure and worked well. The trap door was a fun, novel way to go from the first floor to the lower floor. One could eat in the 'backyard' at a wooden table, the front yard on a round stone lava table, inside at the clear epoxied rough hewn timber table (really a nice touch) or under a tent behind the house for a larger group. A hammock in a shady corner was so inviting after a full day's activities. Little green lizards were frequent guests outside during 'happy hour' or mealtimes. Shearwaters, large nocturnal birds circled overhead each evening 'singing' their haunting calls.

Casa do Cais

Monte

Set in Monte in the Pico island region, Casa do Cais features a patio and quiet street views. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are available at the farm stay free of charge. Guests can make use of barbecue facilities. A special place, location wise, captures the atmosphere of Pico very well, being located in a small fishing port. The host seems to be a nice person, there was enough amenities for the price, pretty close to the main shops in the island, given you have a car, a natural pool not too far on foot where you can have a swim. If you're a no fuss couple or a small group of travelers who don't mind sleeping in the same room, consider this property. Oh and there's a super friendly/humble dog chilling on the front deck.

Casa dos Botes - WhaleBoat House TER

São Caetano

Casa dos Botes - WhaleBoat House TER is set on an exclusive bay, 50 metres from the Atlantic Ocean in the Pico Island of the Azores archipelago. Free WiFi is available.

These air-conditioned units are traditional renewed boat houses that mix their original elements with the modern comfort. Each includes a double bedroom and a twin bedroom. The living rooms are equipped with a flat-screen satellite TV, sofas and a dining area. The bathrooms have a shower. The location of this house is fantastic. It was relatively private (you'd see the odd fishermen setting their boats off early in the morning or people using the pool), secluded and felt like you had your own piece of pico island. Oean view and access, walking trails and the sight of pico mountain were the best. Highly recommend taking a dip in the natural pool mere steps aways during sunny days. We stayed in the "Mar" part of the house which had direct view of the water (make sure to note this when booking otherwise youd be in the back unit of this set of accommodations without the view. The "Mar" house is spacious, relatively well-equipped (could use some basic pantry items like oil, vinegar, salt and pepper; they did leave some water, tea, and crackers), and had appliances that were very useful for a long stay on the island. There is a large, tiered outdoor space that can be gated or opened for more view of the water, sun bathing or bbq-ing. Our host, Sara was very friendly, communicative, and very helpful with tips on restaurants and sights.
