The hostess and her staff share a deep commitment towards history and tradition and yet go out of their way to provide the guests with all kinds of amenities possible. We loved the sumptuous breakfast spread, the unique taste of rai saag at lunch freshly plucked from the garden, piping hot finger chips with our evening tea. Lovely trails snake through the forest leading to quaint little church buildings and gumpha s with breathtaking view points. Super friendly dogs keep you company all along the way. The rooms are squeaky clean and bathrooms are fitted with water heaters and showers to rejuvenate your tired body after a steep climb.The quirky furniture, the cosy library space with an interesting and eclectic collection of books all add to the wholesome and eminently agreeable vibes of the place.If you are up for a fuss free getaway into the lap of nature, this is the place for you.

Evenings spent chatting with them are some of my favourite memories from this trip. The property itself is charming - wake up to the cacophony (the good kind) of birds, spend the day amidst nature with Scruffy, the resident dog that is as friendly as anyone else in the property, get overstuffed by delicious Nepalese food, cooked under Ahona’s supervision, gaze at the mist sweeping in from the mountains as you exchange stories with the hosts who seem like friends you’ve known forever, and go to sleep counting fireflies. If you want some action in between, Kabir can organise hikes in nearby trails. No TV, no internet - this is the place to unwind and connect with self. Clean, spacious and run perfectly by Kabir & Ahona, Palighar is a haven for nature lovers and intrepid travellers. I am already looking at the next dates when I can come down again.
