For travelers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts might offer interactive kid-friendly activities or for couples, a cozy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is usually included – you may even be collecting the eggs yourself!
I loved the quiet, friendly setting. There are several walks accessible from the farm. The area is known for a very special geological history. The evening fossil talk provided many insights into a time period I had never heard of. The information was informative and presented in an entertaining way that kept everyone interested.
The room was very clean, the linen exceptional.
I particularly enjoyed the historical farmhouse (built in 1776) where meals were served. The staff was very helpful in answering questions and providing customs meals.
A wonderful stay in an old farm house, complete with free access to a pool and easy walking distance to everything in the town. The real star of The Ibis Lounge is the restaurant though. Barbara is an epic cook, and you've got to try the thoughtful and beautifully executed Karoo Experience tasting menu as part of your stay. Remember to ask about their honey harvested from their very own on-site apiary!
An awesome example of SA hospitality done right, we'll be back for sure.
Awesome Karoo farm house accommodation in the middle of the breathtaking Karoo landscape! Renovated old Karoo farm house with generous rooms. Accommodation and facilities were all superb with everything one would need for a weekend or longer stay. Bedding and beds were great. Quiet, clean, well maintained and well kept. Lovely expansive Karoo landscape to area to hike or bike in. We will definitely we back for longer!
The location is really exceptional and the rooms have been done up so well.
Loved the pool area, the lawns outside the central farmhouse, the feeling of peace and the comfort of the bed!
I particularly liked the location and setting of the guest farm.
