For travellers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country-living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts may offer interactive kid-friendly activities or, for couples, a cosy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is often included — you may be collecting the eggs yourself!
Spacious and comfortable accommodation. Perfect location. We used it for overnight accommodation, but regret not staying longer to fully enjoy the farm, wine tasting and braai area & stoep of the house we stayed in.
We had a wonderful stay. The farm and cottage were beautiful and most comfortable with everything one might need provided, including fresh coffee and lovely flower posies next to the bed. We had a braai watching the sunset over the vines, the garden was filled with roses and herbs. The hosts were so welcoming and once they learned I love horses even took me for a drive in a carriage harnessed to two of their beautiful Friesian stallions, an unforgettable experience! We certainly plan to return.
We stayed in the farmhouse, it was very spacious. The view over the dam at sunset is spectacular and our kids loved the little forest near the restaurant with all the fairytale characters in it!
Location was perfect, Wine tasting was also a bonus. Would recommend to anybody, exceptional place to stay. Martiens and his staff was very accommodating. I needed to check in earlier as usual time and I did so without any fuss. I rented the old farm house, and it was picture perfect, inside out.
The setting is beautiful, right next to the orange river with lots of beautiful big old trees keeping you shaded. We had great meals at the restaurant and were well looked after by our server, who was absolutely lovely. The room (Ruby Cabernet) was exceptionally comfortable and we loved sitting by the warm fire at night with a glass of complementary sherry. A good base to explore surrounding areas, such as Augrabies Falls and nearby wine farms.
The location and the setting amongst the vineyards is exquisite. The countryhouse is so spacious and well appointed, and the tranquility is a blessing. This is always our favorite place to stay when in this area.
We love the fact that it is a working farm.
The complimentary Wine and Brandy tasting is a lovely experience and the staff feel like friends already.
The on site restaurant serves very good meals.
A must visit
Martiens upgraded us to the farmhouse. Great stay.
Loved the early morning coffee on the verandah outside.
