We liked the peaceful location of the property and friendly staff. Check-in procedure was easy, the room and the property as a whole was very clean which is always very important to us. We had a really lovely stay there and would definetely have stayed longer if we had not already pre-booked our next stay in the next town further south of Portugal.

Honestly one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had. The service was exceptional, the food amazing and well priced. The room was exquisite. The olive oil and wine are made on the premises which is super nice and very reasonable for the quality. Pool excellent. Beautiful little hotel - only six rooms. More of a boutique hotel since the service and the whole experience was luxurious. The view over Douro River and the valley was exceptional. Eating breakfast or dinner outside looking over the river was very nice. Being able to stay by the pool for an extra time after checking out was lovely.

For travellers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country-living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts may offer interactive kid-friendly activities or, for couples, a cosy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is often included — you may be collecting the eggs yourself!
Refúgio was even better than expected. The rustic property is situated in the middle of the nature with amazing views and lots of privacy. The hosts Bárbara and Marlene were always in touch to make sure our stay was perfect. We expect to repeat soon :)
We were well received by the frienly owners Jacqueline and Michel who have transformed the farm into a nice holiday place that can accommodate up to 12 persons. The facilities are clean and the views phantastic close to the Duoro valley
