We don’t write many reviews but this place warrants one. If you’re willing to go off the beaten path this is the place. Well above, and overlooking the Douro River, the scenery is lovely. The solitude and silence is welcome if you’re looking to get away from it for a bit. The house has some of the original stone walls and while modernized and very comfortable evokes the origins of this place as an old time farm house.
While there are only 2 of us breakfast was enough for about 6 and will make for a nice picnic lunch.
A suggestion if you come. Arrive in the daylight, bring food for a picnic type dinner and enjoy it with the bottle of wine from our host Paolo’s vineyard , while taking in the surroundings. Paolo and his family are most gracious and accommodating. This place is a “ Home Run”!!!
Dorigem Rooms enjoys a location in Casal de Loivos, 16 miles from Natur Waterpark and 18 miles from Douro Museum. This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking, and free Wifi.

Deus was very nice and showed us to the fruit trees and recommended a few places.

In the heart of the Douro. Has its own restaurant and wine tasting so enough to make an afternoon/ overnight stay through the Douro.
Overlooking the scenic Douro River Valley, Quinta da Casa Cimeira, Guest House, Wines & Food is set in a historic country house and surrounded by grounds and vineyards.

A perfect home base for two days in the Douro River Valley! We arrived in the evening and had a spot of trouble with the gate (it was unlocked, we just are dumb and didn't turn the knob hard enough!) so ended up calling, thinking we were locked out. The owners were SO sweet and came to help us right away.
The rooms themselves are charming and quaint—it is clearly a much-beloved, old home that has been converted, with lots of antiques and so forth. We booked this place wanting that experience, so we loved our rooms (2 couples), but if you are expecting it to feel like a modern luxury hotel, this might not be the place for you. That being said, we found our accommodations plenty comfy and loved the views over the little town and beyond. Showers were hot, everything was clean, and having the little library/parlor area just off one of our rooms was awesome—we spent an evening drinking wine and playing games there, which was very fun.
As far as location, it's definitely a little bit of a harrowing drive through the narrow streets of the little hamlet on the side of the hill. However, it's so, so worth it. The views are spectacular, and it's easy access to Pinhao, which has shops and restaurants etc. We had originally planned to hike to some of the wineries but the weather made us think better of it and ended up driving to two instead.
The BEST part, though, was the food and staff. It is very much a family operation, and everyone was SO kind and willing to chat with us. We loved the breakfasts (great coffee and homemade breads/pastries!) and did dinner one of the nights, which was a fantastic experience. So nice to eat around a table with the other guests and experience home-cooked Portuguese food. We drank port after and chatted with María, the owners' mother, who didn't speak much English but we managed to communicate with a mix of Spanish and Portuguese translation apps lol.
Quinta da Côrte provides air-conditioned accommodations in Valença do Douro. With mountain views, this accommodation features a patio and a swimming pool.

This is probably the most incredible place I've ever stayed in the world. Everything was perfect from the cozyness of the rooms and common areas, the beautiful interior design, the meals, the wine, the tour, the views, the quiet and seclusion, the staff, just everything. This is definitely the Quinta to stay at if you have any interest in interior design and you want a small and intimate Quinta experience. I loved how few rooms there were, you could meet fellow travelers during breakfast and dinner. The staff were some of the nicest people and taught us so much about the history of this Quinta. The views were unmatched and I could stay there forever! Would definitely stay for 2 nights to get the full experience and just take the train + taxi from Pinhao.
For travelers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts might offer interactive kid-friendly activities or for couples, a cozy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is usually included – you may even be collecting the eggs yourself!
My family loved this place, peacefull quite very relaxing, a rural vibe super confortable. The staff is so thoughtfull and welcoming , from the first smile to the goodbye everyone was super nice to me and my family. Love to come back anytime.
The staff was super friendly. Our room was very comfortable with a great deck and view over the Quinta. The hotel was within walking distance to the town center, and the breakfast buffet was really good, featuring dishes from their own farm. I would definitely recommend this establishment and stay here again when i'm in the area.
