Looking for a farm stay?
For travellers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country-living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts may offer interactive kid-friendly activities or, for couples, a cosy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is often included — you may be collecting the eggs yourself!

This motel feels very fresh and new. Comfortable spacious room looking on to a garden courtyard. Lots of nice little touches, nightlight in the bathroom, shower timer and worm farm bin for the environmentally conscious. I'd love to stay here again

Clean, charismatic place. Generous size and nicely constructed, retaining a number of rustic features. The bed was comfortable. Great location.

Something a little different than the ordinary. This rural location offered a fun experience for the children with opportunity to feed farm animals and watch rabbits hopping in the paddocks. Quiet and peaceful location but close enough to either Mosgiel or Dunedin. Absolutely loved it and hosts have done a great job to make sure everything is homely.

Rustic, serene sanctuary on a small farm surrounded by birds, wildlife, flowers, farm animals, with peaceful inlet and roaring ocean nearby, yet just 2 km from restaurants in Portobello; friendly and helpful hosts, Steve & Birgitte; fabulous home-cooked breakfasts; watching Steve feed the animals in the morning was fun and interesting; great base for exploring the flora, fauna and scenic beauty of the Otago peninsula.

The farmstay is a very lovely place just 10 minutes from central Dunedin. House was really spacious and cosy, kitchen was well equipped. The alpacas were a real treat for the children. We had a great time.

Quiet, rural, private, well appointed, warm, comfortable accomodation / retreat - yet v close to town by car. Internet is v good. Didn’t use mobile signal. Host is exceptionally thoughtful and accomodating. Lots of personal touches and little treats from the property and elsewhere. We stayed as a couple, but it’d be a small family ‘hobby farm’ type holiday paradise, with deer goats chooks etc on your doorstep to experience and hand feed etc.

The unit reminded me of the big farm houses found in the Karoo in South Africa, same wooden floors, same style of decoration. Loved it!
