For travellers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country-living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts may offer interactive kid-friendly activities or, for couples, a cosy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is often included — you may be collecting the eggs yourself!
We loved this Guest House in a rural area close to Tanabe with a beautiful view of sea. The hosts Giovanni and Yakata were both very warm and welcoming. Giovanni cooked a fabulous 5 course Italian style meal for dinner and a lovely breakfast next morning. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed the interaction with the hosts and other guests. We ordered the pickup and drop off which worked very smoothly.
The host was fantastic and went out of his way. The guesthouse is very authentic Japanese rural property on the mountainside with spacious clean and well equipped room. We loved the home made plum wine and the adventurous mountain drive at night and in the morning to the start of thekumano kodo
We had unique experience there. Giovanni and Utaka are very nice and friendly people. They picked us up at the train station with a car which helped a lot. Food was amazing. Giovanni also showed us a goat farm which was very lovely. We recommend this place 100%, you won’t regret it.
It is very wonderful stay. Dinner from chef. Dal is a special occasion time for us. We have relax time and stay calm and comfort. I love nice scene from viewpoint in this farm.
This is a jewel of an accommodation. Great and passionate hosts who just love what they are doing: farming, hosting guests, cooking and looking after their goats. We loved the old farmhouse and especially our baby son enjoyed the trips in the evening to the goats and see all their babies. Giovanni's food was amazing and it was a really relaxed atmosphere for dinner. Conversation in English was easy. We loved our stay there and relaxed and enjoy the nature and good food.
The guesthouse was located in a beautiful location on one of the Komano Kodo trails. The host was kind enough to pick us up in Tanabe and then drop us off at the start of the Nakahechi route early the next day. The home is a restored historic Japanese farmhouse so, if you want an experience that goes back in time, this ones' for you. Plums are grown in the area and the host was gracious enough to share their homemade umeboshi liquor with us.
Great food and hospitality. Very simple 'farm stay' high up in the mountains. Don't expect a luxury ruyokan, but very comfotable futons and a really special place that felt very welcoming.
Simon, the owner, was so helpful. I messaged him probably 500 times with questions and he was always prompt to respond. The house itself is a 100 year old Japanese farm house. Its so quiet, so peaceful, and so zen. I loved that I had my own living room and traditional tatami room. So cool!
the location, the helpfulness of Giovanni and Yutaka. We loved their enthusiasm for their rural farm life and kai using their produce. Yum. Giovanni took us to our start point on the Kumano Kodo too. Brilliant.
