Excellent B&B, everything was superb. Our room was very clean and well-equipped, with a nice balcony overlooking the farm. Probably the best part of our stay was the breakfast, with everything fresh and eggs from the farm. The host is amazing. We stayed here and visited Matera for the whole day. We could only stay one night, but we wish we could have stayed longer.

Casal Dragone lies in the middle of a kind of plain, basically 15 km from any village. It feels like a Ranch on a prairie, which I found very attractive. The rooms was large, albeit the doors are too low (1.80m?), but that's part of the history of the place. The restaurant is a simple but pleasant area where good food was prepared. It arrived on a Monday (restaurant closed), yet the staff offered a simple meal that was well prepared and despite its simpleness tasted very good. The wine from their own vineyard was excellent (I bought 6 bottles) and at a very decent price. Breakfast was very Italian, simple yet tasteful. Sufficient parking space.

Our host Marialaura was the most heartwarming person one could ever hope to meet! She gave us incredible tips to Matera, so much so we didn’t need a tour guide, and awesome restaurant recs. She has this enthusiasm that just makes your entire experience so memorable. We loved the animals too! Such a cozy place to stay. We love it and would definitely come back
For travelers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts might offer interactive kid-friendly activities or for couples, a cozy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is usually included – you may even be collecting the eggs yourself!
L’Assiolo breathes peace and quiet outside of Matera (25 min drive) surrounded by olive and orange groves. Coming from three days in lively Napoli we enjoyed this contrast. Franco, il maestro, is a smiling and warm hearted gentleman and will serve you a proper Italian breakfast if you get out of bed in time ;-) Room was nice as I have experienced in agriturismos otherwhere in Italy.
