For travellers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country-living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts may offer interactive kid-friendly activities or, for couples, a cosy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is often included — you may be collecting the eggs yourself!
A lovely overnight stay in this cozy farmhouse close to Thirlmere at the foot of the Dodds.
The landlady was friendly and welcoming and my room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. I particularly liked the fresh milk in the fridge and the Thelwell loo seat 😆
The tasty full English breakfast in a traditional dining room setting was perfect for setting me up for the day.
Just a 10 minute walk to the nearby pub and then on a little further to Thirlmere itself.
My room was lovely and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was superb, with a good choice of cereals, fruit, cooked and toast etc. Jean was very welcoming and left little thoughtful biscuits and cakes for treats. I would recommend it highly for a homely stay in a comfortable farmhouse style.
This is a beautiful place on a working farm. Sheep, goats, chickens, donkeys, cows.
And the scenery is just wow!
The shepherds hut was lovely. It was small and cosy and rustic. It was clean enough. The toilet and shower are a short walk away, shared with campers. The shower costs £1. The one toilet was clean.
Woke at 2am and it was freezing!!! There was a heater but we didn’t find that out until morning.
Super cosy rustic stay, provided everything we could possibly need. Jam & eggs from the farm shop were delicious and the host was very friendly and welcoming, would definitely come again :)
Come and go as you please with your own front door. We liked the isolation.. The host was lovely. Breakfast was what you would expect from a farmhouse.
