For travellers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country-living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts may offer interactive kid-friendly activities or, for couples, a cosy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is often included — you may be collecting the eggs yourself!
We left feeling that David, Zine and Bill were friends. The walk around the farm and watching the sunset from the top of the hill were highlights of the property. And having an electric blanket was a thoughtfull luxury in the Jamestown winter. We are not shiraz drinkers but enjoyed the Belalie shiraz - an added bonus of our stay.
family feel to this stay near Jamestown. welcoming and comfortable self contained unit with verandah and BBQ. functioning farm and vineyard with great tasting wine for purchase.
Our hosts were super welcoming and friendly, but I'm sure if you wanted privacy, they would respect that too. The property is well out of town, so very quiet of a night. I would describe the accommodation as rustic, but comfortable and very clean. We travel with a small amount of cooking equipment so, with the hotplate/oven supplied and our bits and pieces, we were able to cook a good meal on night one, we BBQed with our hosts on the second (and got to sample some of their very good wine).
I loved everything about my stay there. The farmer's family were so welcoming and friendly. the cabin was super clean and had everything that I wanted. They drove me to the top of the hills to see the sunset. The best part was their cat Simon which was so friendly and made my stay so fabulous. I strongly recommend it.
This was a comfortable, basic cabin which, was good value for money. You can walk around the farm if you want, or buy a bottle of their organic shiraz. The shower was great and there was a full size fridge in the room.
