Overlooking Douro River in Porto, the 5-star Palácio Do Freixo is set in a restored 18th-century Baroque building. Beautiful property, delightful and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast and dinner. I recommend the braised octopus!

I so appreciated their help in getting me an Uber driver at 3 in the morning to get to the airport. The location was great, and the little Portuguese restaurant three doors down that they recommended was a delightful place also. Thank you so much, Poveira staff for providing me a beautiful little haven where I could rest and rely on others to help take care of me. I was sick, and I needed that lovely, calm hotel at a price I could afford.
