Situated a 10-minute walk from JR Okayama Train Station, Hotel Maira provides rooms with free Wi-Fi/wired internet. Staff is great. They helped with sightseeing in Okayama, and even let me ship an urgent package from Amazon if I stayed another night. The amenities you get here are exceptional for the price you pay. Free popsicles and drinks, snacks for 10 yen, frozen omelette with rice or pasta for 100 yen. Free bicycle to ride around town which was very convenient to see the castle and museums. Free pastries for breakfast. The room is clean and good. Overall I had a great stay. This isn't an ordinary Japanese business hotel.

Excellent location, quick walk from the station. Friendly and courteous staff. Excellent breakfast, clean spacious room and to top things off free bicycles available. We used the bikes to go to the gardens which made this trip really efficient and fun. Highly recommend.

Directly connected to JR Okayama Station, Granvia Okayama is a 15-minute train ride from Kurashiki. As the hotel was attached to the train station, Shinkansen stop, tram stop, and bus terminal, access to transportation was fantastically convenient. The hotel is classy, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, as one would expect in a high end Japanese hotel. Within a short walk is a mall with two entire floors of restaurants, and that's not counting the food court. The station is also well equipped with dining options, a grocery store, and two convenience stores. Nearby is a DonQi, an Animate/Lashingbang, and a very large BIC Camera, with other large stores within a 1km walk or short tram ride. It's easy to meet people at various landmarks in and around the hotel, including the Momotaro statue. The rooms are amazing; unusually large, if a bit dated, and ours had a beautiful view of the station and the surrounding area, with mountains in the distance. Day trips via Shinkansen to places like Himeji, Onomichi, etc., are painless.

Very friendly and helpful staff, the person who had not made the booking arrived first and they let him check in, and I had booked the wrong dates but they sorted it out right away. Very close to Okayama Station, fanatic indoor and outdoor onsen baths, sauna and cold pool on top floor with free ice cream, free noodles in the evening, decent size room, convenient coin laundry area. Kept our cases after we checked out until the evening. Quiet, good mattress, would definitely stay again.
