Kasijala
Situated within 26 km of Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park and a few steps of Kampoeng Karst Rammang Rammang in Kasijala, Kampoeng Karst Rammang Rammang features accommodation with seating area. Boasting a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. When staying at the country house, guests can use private entrance.
The area is popular for cycling and hiking, in addition, bike hire and car hire are available at this country house. The country house has a picnic area where you can spend a day out in the open.
This is as basic as it gets and is not for the faint hearted however if you want a true, traditional, country stay amongst the rice paddies this is it. The area has only recently been opened up and is accessible only by boat. If you are seasoned travelers it is good and we, a couple in our mid seventies, coped well. The family we stayed with cooked a splendid evening meal which was served in their personal over water pagoda and provided a boat tour of the area.
Rantepao
Situated in Rantepao in the South Sulawesi region, Alpha 3 Eco Cabin has a balcony and mountain views. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking.

This place is fantastic and I would highly recommend staying here. Great rooms that were very clean. Great pool and restaurant. The staff are lovely. The location is a little out of town but that is actually really nice as it was quiet and peaceful. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Awesome banana pancakes and good food. Great for kids and we had a room connected to theirs which was great.
Best location on the island- sunset behind the volcano, great snorkeling just out the front, cozy little beach bar. Fabulous owner and team, paired with equally wonderful dive team next door. Helpful arranging transport and payments (no ATM on island, or any shops- stock up before leaving mainland!) Amazing meals and food! It's basic accomodation so expect to forfeit luxury for location and fabulous vibes.
Great snorkeling at your doorstep. Large basic rooms overlooking a flat grassed area. Great meals catering to your dietary needs. Good quiet location. Calm clean water for snorkeling.
The place is peaceful by the sea. Good team working in the establishment. The kitchen team is serves great food and the people are very kind, always with energetic and happy spirit.
We spent five nights at El Homestay as a group of four friends. Before arriving in Bunaken, I thought it would be too much time there, but once we arrived at El Homestay, we didn't want to leave.... It has been amazing staying here and experiencing Bunaken. There is a lot to do: snorkeling, diving, dolphins, sandbank, mangroves, visiting Siladen Island, hiking, renting a motorbike, and visiting the viewpoint. We can't wait to be back next year.
