The location is good but you definetly need a car. You also have your dedicated parking spot near the house. Kathisma beach and Agios Nikitias beach (from here you can also choose to walk or take a taxi boat to Milos beach which is stunning) are only around 15 min away, and you can also reach Egremni and Porto Katsiki in 40_50 minutes. There was also a market and coffee shop called Darras very near the houses where you could find everyhting you need for vacations, including groceries.

The village is near Lefkada, 15min, but it feels closer and you have wonderful view above. It's a very safe and friendly place the house and the village too. Everyday there is tourists in the Katouna.
