We loved our stay and only wish we stayed longer! The location is beautiful, and the rooms are very comfortable. We enjoyed a picnic dinner, a bottle of wine and breakfast during our stay. We hope to come back soon!

Second time here, the place is absolutely amazing. Huge property surrounded by vineyards, beautiful old main house full of history (there’s even a chapel inside), plus three separate villas. We stayed in the main building and were lucky to be the only people there on a rainy Monday and Tuesday in October. It felt like visiting family in the countryside. There is a garden and all the fruit and vegetables come from there, everything we ate (and we ate a lot) was amazingly fresh and tasty. Fernanda, the hostess/chef/housekeeper is such a lovely warm and genuine person, she’s definitely what sets this place apart from other similar places. Make sure to book a dinner there! We are already planning our next visit.

From the moment we entered Casa do Fontão, we were amazed by how beautiful the place is, inside and out. Our hostess was wonderful in making us feel welcome and well cared-for. We had a welcome cheese/wine/dessert that was a lovely surprise. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. We spent some time on the back balcony watching a most gorgeous sunset from high on the hill. Breakfast was spectacular too. Wonderful place to stay!

The property is situated in a stunning area of the Douro Valley, perfect for a very quiet getaway. The rooms of hotel are probably the best I’ve every stayed in and the staff are incredible, very attentive and went massively out of their way to make us comfortable, including driving us to the train station on request and also picking up food from a local restaurant as we didn’t have a car. The breakfast was very good.

It’s perfect as a longer stay or as a short break. Some watersport options too by the river which are very fun!
Fabulous welcoming by friendly and helpful staff. We were lucky to be proposed a free upgrade to their suite which was an absolutely beautiful accommodation wtih Jacuzzi, Terasse and all. The Douro Suites' garden peaceful garden, library blend perfectly with the stunning river & region itself.
Everything. Superb location facing the Douro River since the early morning lights to evening hours, therefore perfect for sunsets near the pool area. And this was in NYE, no imagine how it would feel during summer time - guess we might have to return again :) It´s such a lovely countryside place I would say it´s the most beautiful place I have visited and stayed at Douro valleys. Lastly, the hosts are so friendly and genuine, you won´t miss a thing speaking to them. Thanks for everything Marta (and say hi to your parents).
The location was perfect! The view breathtaking. Very peaceful and quiet. There was good AC in the rooms for the hot days of summer. Although there is no restaurant, there is the option of requesting baskets with a complete full meal, that we can choose to have it in the room or in the garden. A genius idea, perfect for the place.
