A tranquil rustic location. The accommodation is on the first floor via the exterior stone steps( 2 flight's).
The venue has 4-6 rooms upstairs , a communal kitchen & two bathrooms ( shared ) with modern facilities.
The building is a conversion from a former agricultural facility & the original ( historical, now disused) equipment is there to see & it's quite the curiosity. The place has a very homely feeling to it .There is a comfortable communal sitting room with a terrace to relax & enjoy the iconic views of a very traditional location.
The kitchen is also communal, it has all the equipment you want and is set in a light ,airy environment that has also retained the original traditional fireplace ( vast ) & the wood burning oven.
There are free laundry facilities on site and these are efficient, though drying is outside & not a machine.
The hosts couldn't be more welcoming & helpful.
You are made to feel more than a guest.
The local town is ten minutes away in a car via country road, almost single track ; challenging for a motorcycle in the dark on first attempt .
If your are looking for relaxation, tranquility & a warm welcome with a homely atmosphere this is your best option.
Btw...a small ancient historic church with a helpful curator & Visigoth stone inscriptions is only a 5 minute walk away.
Located in the heart of the Alto Douro Wine Region with tranquil surroundings, Solar Quinta da Portela - Douro offers air-conditioned accommodation in an 18th century guesthouse.

Very nice place. Warm welcome. Beautiful apartment. Very good breakfast
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes based in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, such as trekking, birdwatching and cycling.
Lives up to its name, what a fantastic view down over the valley and river from the room. Quiet village setting, the lady who met us was very helpful and pleasant, the room was beautiful, balcony just outside, pristine bathroom, plenty for breakfast, no problem with parking in village, small children's playground next to house, safe secure area, may not suit someone with mobility issues due to steps but would definitely recommend
The house is luxurious - had everything we needed. Amazing views especially from the main bedroom. Pool was great- we really appreciated it after a long walk in the heat. Sandra was so welcoming and very helpful and left us plenty of food for breakfast.
The location was great! It had incredible views of the Duoro valley and it was very quiet and relaxing. You could hear the birds chirping in the morning, very peaceful. Almost felt like a resident of the area! Staff were super friendly and kind. There was enough parking for three vehicles and it was a short walk to the best lookout point in the valley in my opinion. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
The receptionist, Monica was very lovely. The views are absolutely gorgeous! It was SO quiet. Sitting on the patio looking over the valley was our favorite part of the stay. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, calm evening with a million dollar view, this is the place.
