We had a sizeable apartment attached to the main house, with a bedroom bathroom and kitchen/ living area which included cooking facilities. Our host was very friendly and helpful with advice on where to eat out. She offered a good choice of breakfast, including home-made cake. We enjoyed staying in this rural location with lovely countryside views and spectacular sunset, as the local town, Certaldo, was not far away, and has an historic hill-top centre which can be reached by a funicular from near to the railway station. This helped us to access plenty of restaurant offerings, although after October in low season, the funicular service finishes early evening.
Conveniently located between Florence (40 km) and Pisa (55 km), Il Casale del Cotone is a renovated farmhouse set in the renowned Tuscan countryside, just 2.5 km from San Gimignano.

We stayed in the three bed room villa. Was fantastic. Spacious. Clean. Homely. Two great bathrooms upstairs. Bedrooms were very nicely ddecorated and the beds were very comfortable. Very quite.

The location was perfect for visiting Siena, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni. We visited at the end of October and were exceptionally lucky with glorious weather. Were therefore able to enjoy the spacious terrace with a bottle of Chianti before dinner. No need to look elsewhere for Dinner as Katia who manages the Restaurant is amazing recommending sharing dishes that gave excellent value. House wine 10 euro a bottle! She actually booked us into the B&B and was the perfect host with a warm and energetic introduction.
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes based in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, such as trekking, birdwatching and cycling.
This place is a little gem! The location is perfect, it really is only a five minute walk to town but it is quiet and peaceful. We couldn’t have hoped for more friendly and welcoming hosts than Francesca and family and the breakfasts on the lawn with the classic view of San Gimignano couldn’t be bettered. If you are looking for a homely and traditional experience, we couldn’t recommend this highly enough.

The location is fantastic. Care has been taken to present this family run hotel with typical Tuscan features but also boasting all the comforts and luxury that make a stay enjoyable. It is set in parklike, peaceful gardens, the pools are a feature, it is surrounded by magnificent views and is within walking distance of San Gimignano. The breakfast is sumptuous. All members of the hotel team were extremely friendly and helpful. This was a return visit and we look forward to more.
Cosy, quiet & super authentic! We loved everything about our stay in Antica! Staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive & helpful. The breakfast’s out in the vineyards was such a lovely touch to really feel immersed in the Tuscan countryside.

Spectacular view of San Gimignano. Lovely gardens and surrounding countryside, nice rooms with good bathroom and comfy bed. Secure location, off the beaten track.
The host lady was very friendly, The breakfasts were great, and the room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless! It was very quiet, peaceful and relaxing there. The pension is located at a lovely spot in the countryside which looks directly at San Gimignano, and Tuscan vineyards,, which gave it an authentic feel.
