Tanks a million for Sister Sue’s superlative welcome and Naomi’s evensong tea und treats. High on a hill betwixt the Dove & Manifold rivers, belle rambles abound. The breakfast is wondrous, as are the ladies that chef it! ;-)

The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes located in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, like trekking, bird watching, and cycling.
Excellent accommodation in a spacious room with nice garden views. Unexpected and enjoyable welcome tea - and the breakfasts are a triumph! Quiet and a good location for visiting the attractive villages and hamlets in the area.
A perfect location, just where we needed to be. The room exceeded our expectations with a four poster bed and all facilities. The room was cozy, warm and quiet. An excellent full English breakfast set us up for the day. Staff were welcoming and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay here again.
Comfortable large room, very good breakfasts, exceptional staff (special mention for our amiable host Chris) and an interesting old house full of character set among stunning countryside. Very quiet - only sounds were the nearby cows! Highly recommended.
Excellent, outstanding location, with beautiful gardens, peaceful and relaxing. Our room was uniquely and originally hand-painted, and together with the spacious and comfortable furnishings provided a great night's sleep. The breakfast was very tasty and plentiful, with good quality ingredients, served with a smile by friendly staff. We had supper the evening before which was exceedingly well presented, mouthwatering, and handy as we didn't wish to go out, and enjoyed the garden scenery and countryside views from the lawn.
The location is great for visitors wanting to go hiking or trail running from the door, in a quiet corner of the White Peak away from the crowds. Tea and cake on arrival were a lovely touch. Great breakfast too.
The room we had was enormous - which felt like old fashioned luxury. The house is situated in a great spot - quiet and dark at night and great to start walking first thing. The cake by the fireside was very welcoming and gave us a chance to meet our fellow guests and have a chat. We only stayed one night - but really enjoyed it - would happily have stayed for longer. Great spot!
Nice friendly reception with coffee and cake . Large comfortable room with excellent bathroom . Lovely peaceful area in attractive countryside with central location for exploring the White Peak .
We had a brilliant stay at Stanshope Hall. The large room and en suite were well equipped and comfortable, with lovely views over the garden and countryside. We loved the decor and period features of the Hall and its peaceful atmosphere. Staff were kind and friendly and the breakfast was delicious with many options available. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again.
