The room was clean and comfortable; the sea views outside were gorgeous. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon when lunch was in full swing, so not the best time for a fully attentive reception. Dinner was quite reasonable, but restaurant fairly empty after the hectic lunchtime crowd. Breakfast buffet was OK.

We had a brilliant week staying at Basoan. The staff are fantastic and very helpful. The breakfast is lovely and healthy. And the surrounding area is beautiful. We saw deer every day.
Bilbao is a 45 minute bus ride away so you can't just pop into the town. But if you are fine with that then we would definitely recommend Basoan. We didn't find this a problem at all during our stay, it was nice to visit the city then escape back to the mountains. The location is also close to some nice beaches (40 mins by bus). Mungia is a 45 minute walk or ten minute bus ride away and is also worth a visit for some local bars / restaurants and supermarkets.
We will be back.
