This is a very special place, unlike your average Hotel in the village. La Selvaggia is at the upper end of Mandello in the middle of the beautiful nature away from everything - almost like a mountain hut. We were in Mandello for the Moto Guzzi Festival and we really enjoyed being able to get away from all of the people and the noise when going back to the hotel in the evening. The property is very well kept and there is a beautiful pool as well. You can see in everything that this is an owner run family business. It's just got this family touch. We only got to meet Vanessa and she was super nice.
While we liked the fact that this place is a bit remote, it might not be right for everyone. It's a 7-8 minute walk from the parking up to the hotel on a nature path. Nothing crazy and a lovely walk but if you are not so stable on your feet, it's not ideal. Vanessa will be happy to offer you and your luggage a lift between the parking and the hotel (quite an experience) but of course she can't do it every time you come/go.

What a great place to stay! Excellent location in the heart of Varenna. Room sparkling clean, with everything you need for a perfect rest. The owner of this charming little hotel, Diana, is the best of the best. We highly recommend Casa Contrada Bella to everyone.

Alessandra was a very kind and responsive host, she joined us at the house for check in, welcomed us into the house and gave us useful information for visiting the city. Two glasses of prosecco and water were waiting for us in the fridge. The spacious and recently renovated bathroom. The highlight is the charming hydromassage tub. Everything is absolutely perfect!! The apartment is amazing, it's cozy but because you have a little upstairs area it still feels big. The bed was very comfortable and the location is just perfect. Withing 30 seconds of walking you are on the boardwalk, and the balcony has a beautiful lake view. We felt very at home there. I would 10/10 recommend! There is no airco but because the walls are very thick it still stays fairly cool inside the apartment even when it's hot outside which is also really nice.
We loved the view and the location - that it wasn’t in the chaos of the waterfront, but handy to it. Also in a lovely piazza with several restaurants etc. We thought Varenna was a good choice to stay as very charming. Also a very well equipped kitchen.

Close to everything: centre, ferry, train but quiet. You can only hear the sound of the river in front of the appartment.

I loved its location near the charming Old Square, and not far from the beautiful foreshore. The rooftop terrace provided amazing views over Lake Como, the bedroom was very comfortable, the toilet & bathroom very clean and the dining & kitchen facilities were very practical. It was nice to have tea & coffee always available. I would definitely stay here again after a very positive experience.
Very convenient location- walking distance from the train station, ferries and Varenna waterfront. Varenna guest house is very spacious. There are clothes washing facilities, large kitchen and even a sauna! The hosts were easy to communicate with and helpful.
