The stay at Casa Cacao was excellent. I phoned the host from the Marseille railway station and after a short taxi ride Jean Pierre was there to meet us. The apartment sits in the grounds of an exceptionally large house and is reached by walking up a spiral staircase. The spacious apartment had two bedrooms and an ensuite bathroom plus a shower room. The kitchen was well equipped with cooking utensils and equipment. There are large gardens with seating and shade which you can use during your visit.
The apartment is close to public transport. We were in Marseille for four nights to attend a concert and see the city and we got around very easily.
One very welcoming note was that Jean Pierre had produced a welcome sign in French with two small flags in a stand. One for France and one from Scotland. It was a genuinely nice touch.
For any visitor who does not want to stay in a hotel the Casa Cacao is an excellent alternative that I would recommend.

Charming atmosphere, felt like a calming “oasis” in a very busy and dirty area. It’s old, with steep stairs, and old-fashioned yet charming interior. High-carb cozy breakfast, strong and good coffee and hot chocolate option for the kids. The small pool and jacuzzi was nice for the kids, not sure about the water quality though. Be aware that you can hear everything from the stairways when you’re in your room, however we slept well. AC working fine.
The hotel looks exactly in the pictures - the pool is charming and refreshing, as well as a surprise of a hidden hot tub.
The rooms are comfortable and clean, including air conditioning in every sleeping room.
The location is perfect, Cours Julien is a wonderful area of Marseille, great restaurants and very walkable.
The views were beautiful, with lots of shady outside space. The house was cosy and furnished like a home, everywhere was perfectly clean. The kitchen was well equipped with good quality items. The showers were great and the beds comfortable. Our host was absolutely charming and very efficient. The 46s bus is only an 8 minute walk away and runs every 30 minutes into Marseille, but it is really ideal for those with a car.

The host was extremely accommodating and always available for any questions or assistance. It truly enhanced my experience. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the local culture while enjoying a comfortable stay.

Quirky and charming, modern chateu vibes, superb value for money, ideal if staying in the area and self catering. Great proximity to cruise port and for exploring L'estaque. Beds comfortable and good quality bedlinen. Full kitchen, well equipped.

A charming converted apartment with gorgeous sea views becomes a beautiful, private romantic stay for two with jacuzzi. The view did not disappoint, and the owner was very friendly and accommodating. It inspired us to do this more often.
Cosy, charming and calm. Smell of fresh paint. Rather copious and tasty breakfast with view on leafy garden - unfortunately it was raining, otherwise it would have been an even better relaxing breakfast. Happy to return on another occasion.
