Cottages in Paxton

My stay at Cedars was amazing. It's exactly like the photos but better! From the moment you arrive, your villa is set up as such a relaxing mood. If you're looking for a very peaceful and relaxing stay, I couldn't recommend this place more. Our only regret was not staying another day!

Beautiful country location in a smallish comfortable cabin, perfect for a family. New, clean comfortable furnishings with everything you would need to stay longer, continental breakfast a plus. We were staying for one night only for a concert and this worked perfectly as the bus leaves from Ellalong Pub. Would recommend.

location rustic and quiet

I loved that the location was very relaxing. This is a working farm and yet there was no noise disturbance and it was awesome waking up each morning just to the natural sounds of the bush. The hosts were great, just left me to my own devices but were on hand if I needed anything.

The accommodation was wonderful, just as the pictures depicted. The attention to detail inside the carriage was clearly a testament to the amount of effort the owners have put into not only restoring them but to making them into an extremely comfortable accommodation suitable for a family of 3-4. The amount of work that has gone into things is apparent from several other carriages that are nearby that are being restored to their former glory. The property itself is large and essentially consists of a number of train carriages that are spaced throughout the grounds. The Queen Mary is in close vicinity to one other carriage but there is still sufficient privacy as people have no particular reason to go meandering around. The property has no outdoor features to speak of, so you are really resigned to staying indoors or taking your car if you want to go anywhere. We were hoping for some nearby bush walks, however there are private properties and roads in the surrounds, so this isn't really something to do. Inside the carriage, there are 2 rooms with double beds that were extremely comfortable (they might be a bit cramped for taller people). The rooms are beautifully decorated and include air-conditioning. The bathroom has a generous sized shower and it even manages to fit in a small (~1/3 size) bath tub. While I imagine a taller person might have trouble getting in, being on the shorter side it was still tight but nevertheless a relaxing experience. The toilet is a tight fit. The kitchenette/dining area is a nice common area to sit and converse along with a nice outdoor "courtyard" that is attached to the end of the carriage. As for the amenities, there was a bottle of wine on arrival and coffee (more on that below) and a selection of teas. There is a kettle, toaster, microwave, a small fridge and cups, utensils and plates so you can prepare some basic food and drink.
