I’m writing this review in the hope that things will change. For a property charging (give or take) $400 per night, you do expect a certain level of service and amenity.
- when we arrived, there was no-one at the front desk. We ended up calling the main phone number after a couple of minutes to get someone to check us in. We heard the phone ring behind the office door. The staff were there, just not "there”…
- We had left a message the previous evening (after hours) to book a table at the restaurant. There was no acknowledgment of the call and we ended up making the booking (again?) at checkin.
- We had been given a prepaid voucher (birthday gift). Interestingly, the person who checked us in said that she would have to tell the chef that we had a voucher. We weren’t sure why…
- …until after we got our meal. One of us ordered a $56 rib steak. It was as thin as a minute steak (although cooked exactly as ordered) and while the menu said it came with a jacket potato, we were served mashed… we did see other tables being served roast potato. We were expecting something a bit more “meaty.” We would have asked our server, but she disappeared after serving the meal, never to return…
- …until it came time to pay. We had to ask the kitchen hand to grab the server to pay.
- The location is amazing. You drive through a gorgeous rainforest to a cabin that is both private and spacious. …but with laminate peeling off bathroom drawers and rust at the bottom of the front closet. Broken lamps throughout the property and even the lamp above our restaurant table had two of four lamps not working.
- The front desk lady told us there was a torch in the room to navigate the dark pathway between the rooms and the restaurant. That, in itself, is no issue as it is a Rainforest Retreat. However, the torch had a dead battery. The person at the restaurant said that she would fix it in the morning. Umm… how were we to return to our room???
This place has so much potential.

Everything, it’s the perfect winter cottage/cabin getaway. Gorgeous setting, large front balcony with bbq,sofa & heating. Cozy lounge room with working open fire place. Big tv with Netflix etc. Large fridge /freezer(well big enough for few days) Plenty tea/coffee options, Cook Books, Games. Then the king comfy bed & spa bath to relax after waterfall walks. Oh and split air con bed & lounge.
We had a wonderful time! The property exceeded our expectations. It was presented beautifully, including Aesop body products. A well styled, cosy romantic stay, super comfortable bed. All the pay TV you could want, including apple TV. Lovely big fireplace and Spa bath. Thank you for your hospitality. We will definitely be back.
Lovely cottage style Room, pub has a great old english feel to it with fireplace in the dining room. Very convenient place to stay for couples on a romantic getaway. Younger staff absolutely fantastic and manager brilliant.

We had a lovely stay in this cozy and charming cottage: we loved the fireplace and the giant bathroom open on a private garden. Very comfortable and perfect for a romantic getaway.
The breakfast was scrumptious, with homemade bread and other lovely foods.
The view is amazing. It's close to multiple wineries, walks, views and a handful of restaurants. The cottages were very charming. The fireplace was very cozy, although we had to buy kindling and firewood (the provided firewood was too wet).
