Hotel Roosje van de Kaap, hotel in Swellendam

This guesthouse is located in the town of Swellendam. Rooms feature antique furnishings and views of the Langeberg Mountains or the gardens. Free Wi-fi is available in all rooms.

The room was very nicely decorated, big, with AC and had everything you needed. The property is beautiful with 2 pools, a lovely garden and tranquil. Breakfast was very nice and the owners were very friendly, as well as the staff. It is walking distance from Drosdy Museum and restaurants, coffee shops and some other shops are around the corner.

De Kloof Heritage Estate Hotel and Wellness, hotel in Swellendam

De Kloof Heritage estate is a Cape Dutch boutique hotel and spa , is just a few minutes walk into the heart of Swellendam. It has a 12-metre outdoor pool and spa with panoramic mountain views.

A lovely small estate in an 1801 property. Must impressed with Swellendam, a lovely old town with some great buildings. De Kloof had some beautiful gardens and the pool area particularly nice. Breakfast served was excellent. Staff all most kind and delighted, and surprised to have my car cleaned. Quite unexpected. Our room was separate from the main house, all named after a different grape. Sauvignon Blanc was our suite. Huge bathroom. Would stay here again and highly recommend.

Rothman Manor, hotel in Swellendam

This 5-star boutique hotel features a small eco-reserve with Zebras and Springboks, a large garden pool, and an open-air jacuzzi. Located in Swellendam, restaurants and cafes are just 50 metres away.

Bit dated but friendly and helpful staff, and lovely gardens. Internet and TV service very patchy. The Gardner washed our car twice which was a lovely touch.

The town has an interesting museum, well worth the visit. The restaurants, cafe's and shops cater for the passing tourist. There is a nature reserve close by, as well as some hiking trails. Cape Agulhas is also within a day trip away.

I am a holistic therapist, so Swellendam was the perfect location for my visit. There are many other healers in the area offering kundalini yoga, sound healing, access bars etc. and Swellendam is based next to a mountain of rose quartz - a very healing place with such a beautiful energy. There are various restaurants to visit - most are only open during the day so options are more limited in the evenings. But I felt very safe as a solo female traveller.

We just LOVE Somerset Gift! We stayed in Fish Eagle.

We just LOVE Somerset Gift! We stayed in Fish Eagle. From the view and facilities to the helpfulness of the farm mangeress, Tanya, everything was lovely. Tanya went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable and gave us all a very warm welcome (including the fur kids!). There are beautiful waterfalls and rockpools that you can hike to and there is also a river and a dam with kayaks. There is a huge indoor fireplace for the winter getaways and a huge undercover outdoor braai with dinner table and chairs. We brought board games, cards and puzzles and had endless laughs around the table. If I absolutely had to moan about something, it would be the pressure of the shower. It is very low and soft - but! ....honestly we were swimming so much it really wasn't a big thing. I just can't think of anything else that was a negative :-) The wood fire hot tub outside is a super bonus! We will definitely be back!

    What a surprise awaited us.

What a surprise awaited us. This town has a very warm and relaxed atmosphere and we didn't plan long enough to stay and explore all that it has to offer. A one night stop over was not enough. Colonial and Dutch influences in the architecture and a lovely selection of shops and restaurants and places of historical interest, which we simply didn't have time to see, but will be back to explore.

People are extremely friendly. We had an awesome time, always love visiting Swellendam. All the restaurants are of excellent quality, and you can browse in the small shops. I walked to the Mall, and felt very safe

    The TV did not work.

The TV did not work. When we checked it was broken and it looked like the lady hosting us knew about it but did not care to mention that. When we call about this TV not working at night she said I quote "Just press all the buttons until something happens sir" we were shocked! In the morning her apology for this also did not sound sincere as you could tell she was well aware that it does not work. Went to the bathroom at night and when switching on the light the electricity blew and the whole place did not have lights for the rest of the night. When we mentioned this in the morning it was a known issue and they blamed load shedding for it. My partner was looking forward to swimming the pool was GREEN! and quite clearly not been maintained for years. It is nothing like what you see on the listing, you would be scared to even stick a finger in it. It's the type of dirt that you can't see at the bottom of it. We asked for the bicycles they said we could use on the listing and there were only two bicycles, the one had a flat tire so we couldn't use it. The other one that we had to share was not maintained well and also had a chain locking the whole time. We were just shocked that there are only two bicycles available for guests. The Restaurant on the other hand was a pleasant experience. The gentleman hosting is very friendly and authentic it's amazing. The food is value for money as well. Had one of the most amazing meals the free breakfast is also good value and a proper meal. Wifi good and the music is lovely and the place all together has nice indoor and outdoor calming seating. We could come back for the dining experience it was exceptional. My partner and I spent the week talking about how calm and authentic the gentlemen hosting us were. He was just an exceptional experience I can't stress enough. In summary, we would come back to dine definitely!. But to sleep No, don't see how they justify the cost for it as well.

We loved our stay at Aquaelberg place. Reinhart, our host, couldn’t have been friendlier or any more helpful. It was a pleasure to meet her, and she really made our stay. The room was lovely, spacious, bright and very clean! Their house is brilliantly located in a lovely area of Swellendam and we were given great recommendations of the best local spots to visit. The breakfast was also absolutely delicious! I could not recommend this place enough! Thank you for a great stay!

This is an insanely beautiful farm very well placed from all the amenities of Swellendam down whilst still feeling remote and close to nature. I'd highly recommend River Cottage for a private, comfortable stay with a lovely garden with a view of the horses. Will definitely return

Beautiful location in a farm, at the foot of the Langberg mountains. Very isolated. Swellendam with nice restaurants is only 3 km away. Perfect stopover on our way back to Cape Town
