Ballinderry, The Robertson Guest House, hotel in Robertson

Ballinderry is a delightful guest house in the heart of Robertson. Its rooms and suites are individually and tastefully decorated, with great attention to detail and your comfort in mind.

Luc and Hilde gave us such a warm welcome. We had a light and airy bedroom and super comfortable bed. The lush enclosed garden is quiet for a swim, a sit or for dining. Good choice of fresh breakfast items and we were lucky to be there on an evening when Hilde provided a delicious 3 course dinner. Highly recommend.

Robertson is an absolute gem in the Western Cape!

Robertson is an absolute gem in the Western Cape! Nestled in the breathtaking Breede River Valley and surrounded by the stunning Langeberg Mountains, it’s a town that truly lives up to its title as the "Valley of Wine and Roses." Whether you're a wine enthusiast or simply love scenic beauty, Robertson has something for everyone. The wine estates are spectacular, offering unforgettable tasting experiences along one of the world’s longest wine routes. Beyond the vineyards, the town charms with its rich history and local art galleries that give you a taste of its vibrant culture. For adventure seekers, there are endless outdoor activities like hiking, river cruises, and nature walks. And if you’re lucky enough to visit during one of their festivals, you’ll experience the warm, celebratory spirit of the town and its people. Robertson is more than just a stop on Route 62, it’s a destination you’ll want to linger in. Highly recommend!

Robertson is the perfect weekend getaway from Cape Town, just about an hour and 45 minutes away. This short travel time means you can maximize your stay without spending too much time on the road. However, be warned—there are so many lovely places to visit that you might not be able to enjoy everything in just one weekend.

Our Favorite winery was Springfield Estate, beautiful grounds and views of the pond while enjoying wonderful wines. Our GPS worked well and we found our way around the Robertson wine region. Robertson region was a quick two day visit for us, the next time we would give the area more time to explore the region and the many wineries available to visit. We saw, but did not have time for, hiking, biking, horse back riding, Breed River kayaking, and the hot springs. We also visited small sleepy McGregor, 15 minute drive from Robertson, to walk the Main Street as the shops had a store front Sunday open market and goods for sale. Montague was in our route to Robertson, we only visited the main town with a 30 minute drive through, so we did not have time to explore the hot springs or the hiking trails, but as it was surrounded by the mountains, we could see hiking would be enjoyable if you have the time. The tourist office has information on the trails and the time required.

    Such a lovely friendly town.

Such a lovely friendly town. I remember when we were trapped there in September 2023 with the flooding. Everyone opened their homes, restaurants, churches etc for people to stay over. Amazing Town. I love it there.

Tertia was a friendly and gracious host, making sure we were comfortable with our stay. Jacques assisted my son with his flat tyre and was very knowledgeable and helpful. Everything we needed for self catering was there and well thought out. The bird life was amazing with more to explore on the mountain side by walking and mtb tracks.
