Prince Albert is a beautiful, clean, little town. We loved our purchases of milk, yoghurt and cheese from Gay's Dairy. Coffee, apple tart and sourdough bread from Hendry's. We also supported their Saturday Market.

Prince Albert gets a lot of positive press but it failed in one very obvious aspect: a municipality that does not really care what the town looks like off the main road. Side walks overgrown, a general feeling of unkept public areas, side roads with lots of potholes in places. Otherwise the restaurant staff in four places we visited were all friendly, asking the right questions and making one feel welcome. Would visit again but citizens, take matters into your hands and clean the place up please?

Just loved the town and the people.

Just loved the town and the people. Wherever you popped in to a shop or restaurant, people were friendly, are able to tell you about the history of the town, and people are willing to guide you to other shops and other business.. Please visit "Moeder Aarde" Antique shop, lovely owners Sonja and her husband.

    Lovely small town. Friendly people.

Lovely small town. Friendly people. Nice little restaurant's & coffee places. Came over from Oudtshoorn over the most beautiful Swartberg Pass. Narrow gravel roads. Drive slowly. Beautiful rock formations and river flowing closer to Prins Albert side. Went to Gay's Guernsey Dairy for cheese tasting & bought a few cheeses. Had lunch at Prins Albert Swartberg Hotel Deli. Will return one day. Passing through Meiringspoort on way out was an amazing experience.

Prince Albert is a beautiful quaint little town that makes you slow down and just appreciate your surroundings. Slow life, no rush! Everyone greets! Lots of history that has you in awe because you are also contributing to the of the locals keeping their town going when you buy at the market, shops, restaurants and museum. It feels like "Home".

We only had one full day in Prince Albert, and took our hostess's advice to visit the fig farm about 25km out of the town ( figs were in season ). Driving through the desolate Karoo is a wonderful experience, and a visit to the farm is highly recommended. There are plenty of restaurants in the town - we ate at one ( The Rude Chef ) - service was excellent and our fish and salad done to perfection. We were surprised not to see high walls or fences around the properties and don't recall even seeing burglar bars on any of the doors and windows - apparently there is very little crime in the area.

Facilities were basic and perhaps not suitable for all eg we did not have a Tv in our room, water facilities in the kitchen were unusual (but fun) and the shower was outdoors but there was a beautiful bath, cosy sitting room, excellent air conditioning and wifi, everything worked and a great location. We were there for three nights and we loved it. By the way the host Erika paints beautifully and has a small gallery in the main street opposite the hotel.

Immaculate appointed accommodation and grounds. Amazing farm life on the outskirt of town with a huge duck pond, entire unique Hen Village, Donkeys, and then the surprise every time you walk through the well appointed gardens. Breakfast ranked one of the best in Prince Albert. Yellow House next door for lunch / dinner. We extended our stay purely for this location.
