It was just as advertised and described. If you are looking for a self catered place it fits the bill.
It would also be great for friends to book together as a group.

Service is top rate and so as foods. One phone call and the cart will come to pick us up. Mingo, our ranger drove us all around to see many animals twice a day. It was our first safari experience.

The Pilansberg is great for Fauna & Flora. We always have good animal & bird sightings.
The condition of many of the roads is appalling and not comfortable in a normal sedan vehicle.
The Camping facilities at Bakgatla are adequate with good shade but not much grass.
However, the Chalet we used was terrible. R10k for three nights - the Aircon didn't work at all(in 37deg heat),the Stove didn't work. The Tap on the sink was literally falling off.The Fridge wasn't very efficient.
No Shower and the bath was designed for a midget & it was dirty because the surface was badly stained.
One toilet for five people - not good enough for R3k a night.

The staff and service were amazing.
The staff and service were amazing. Always helpful and polite. The manager Karel was also very helpful and went out of his way to please us. He took us on some amazing game drives.
The hotel is old and tired and the rooms are dirty. The mats by the bed were filthy and torn as well as the mat in the bathroom which also needed a clean.
The food was very average and we were also served left overs on one of the days we were there. Unless there is an upgrade to the premises I cannot see us going back anytime soon

Once one we were in the sanctuary of the Black Rhino Lodge, all was fantastic. Getting there and back by road was unpleasant. The surrounding areas are poverty stricken and the roads in a poor state.
Unforunately, there is no longer an airport in the area.

Although the roads aren't in the best shape, it helps one to drive slowly, to enjoy the bush and all it has to offer. The "Friends of Pilansberg" try very hard to maintain the roads. The "Bush" takes care of the rest!!
The rooms are well-appointed and come with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The food is delicious and varied, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend taking a game drive with the hotel's guide, who is knowledgeable, humorous, and goes above and beyond to ensure you see and get great photos of the animals. On our game drive, we were fortunate enough to spot 3 of the Big 5: lions, elephants, and rhinos.
The experience at the hotel was amazing. They asked us in advance what we would like to eat and if we had any dietary restrictions! The hotel's breakfast is incredible with many options. I would like to mention our safari experience at the Game Lodge; we had two guides, Sibu and Helen, both very knowledgeable and skilled. They showed special attention to my pregnant wife.
I cannot say enough good things about Mbazo!
The team are exceptional and they go above and beyond to ensure that every guest is taken care of. The rooms are out of this world and the food is first class. The safari guide was excellent and the highlight had to be the elephants coming to drink from the pool right outside the hotel.
The private lodge in the Pilansberg - with local staff - who strive for excellence makes your stay better than most - add in cuisine and a game ranger named Sydney - whose knowledge and attentiveness surpasses the norm - this then makes your stay amazing.
Just outside Pilansberg so very well positioned. Clean and fantastic staff.
It’s also so convenient to get dinner prepared. Lots of food and it was very nice including a complimentary bottle of wine and water and cold drinks .
