Room was very clean even in the bathroom and it's facilities, reasonably spacious with operational aircon.
Infact the environment was highly conducive thus meeting our expectations to the extent that we asked for the business card for ease of communication and to be able to recommend the place to our colleagues with clear reference.

Pietermaritzburg, once an attractive, clean town, with numerous historic buildings and home to a number of well-established schools, is looking shabby and uncared for.
I have no idea why anyone would want to head there - we were there for a tennis tournament - and couldn't wait to get on our way and back home!

PMB is a traditional city in South Africa.
PMB is a traditional city in South Africa. I stayed there for work, so I did not really drive around and spend time in the city. I enjoyed the Olive & Oil Restaurant at Cascades Life style Centre. PMB is not that big so to get around is easy.

Pietermaritzburg has historic buildings.
Pietermaritzburg has historic buildings. The architecture is varied and interesting. Though the town center is quite busy, as you move further from town it is quiet and laid back. There are newer developments outside but close to town, like Hesketh estate. There is so much potential for further growth and development for the town.

1. Electric fly-catcher dirty and not working
2. Lot's of flies buzzing around in the dining area, serving counter, and food prep area
3. View from the room was dismal as it overlooked a shabby blue-stone patch with litter and ill-maintained walls
4. The condition of the loungers in the patio breakfast area were tatty
5. Roofs, fascias, and gutters look shabby
6. The only big positive was the good, friendly staff. Other than that the Golden Horse was typically a 3 star hotel.
They have beautiful paintings and mirrors on their walls hanging all over the hotel starting from the reception, the dinning room etc. Each paintings tells a different and unique African story. if you're Into Arts then you'll definitely enjoy your stay👍
The staff was so friendly and helpful. They cater for your needs and make sure that you enjoy your stay. And the house keeping is spot on👍
It's centrally located to Golden Horse Casino 🎰 and Entertainment Centre, Scottsville Mall, Woodburn Mall and University of KwaZulu Natal PMB Campus, Durban University of Technology Pietermaritzburg Campus and other places of interest.
A Beautiful lodge hidden away in Pietermaritzburg. Our accommodation in the Boat House was cosy, warm and very comfortable. The supper and breakfast was amazing. Will definitely be back
