Beautiful clean and pleasant stay.Must eat at waenhuis
Nieu Bethesda makes a great destination. This quaint Karoo towns main attraction is Helen Martin's Owl House. Besides the town's scenery and ambience there are a number of other attractions. It's easy to walk around town once you get there. The areas is also great for gravel and mountain bike cycling.

Tranquil, and location is great.
Tranquil, and location is great. Away from everything even though not a long drive to get there. Wished we could have stayed longer. A good spot to relax, rest and find oneself after a busy year.

The trip was an overnight stop.
The trip was an overnight stop. But i would love to spend a few days in the town. The people are amazing. I ate at Die Waenhuis. A beautiful restaurant. An unexpected gem. The food was 5 STAR.
You have to be mindful of the wild horses that wander on the berg pass. It is an amazing experience . The art gallery wow. The Furrow lodge is amazing can;t get enough of it

Perfect little town to destress and relax.
Perfect little town to destress and relax. The locals were all warm and friendly. Although the little beggars make it challenging at times. (Rather donate to the local charity organisations)
We had a huge scrumptious breakfast at Zalig, excellent value for money and so delicious.
Dinner at Die Waenhuis also absolutely delicious.
Only pity of being so remote, was the lack of fresh food - fruit & veg - and fresh milk too.
The town is tiny, so no need to drive, which is perfect for a relaxing time away. Very dusty there due to no tarred roads but that's part of the Karoo ambience.

The peacefulness of the town was a match made in heaven.
The peacefulness of the town was a match made in heaven.
The Padstal stood out and a big shout out to Riel and Chrissie.
And of course the Owl House was mind blowing , inspiring, the iconic late Mrs Helen Martins was before her time. I recommend that everyone reads up on her story before visiting the Owl House. There is so much irony in the Nieu-Bethasda Helen Martins relationship. Sad but true.

It is really a place that you would either love or not enjoy
It is really a place that you would either love or not enjoy
It was far too "rustic:" and messy a place for me - besides the fact that I use a wheelchair and am a Christian it really had nothing that interested me.....as well as the fact that there are no tarred roads - let alone pavements
