De Hoop is a beautiful reserve with a variety of birds and antelope.
The cottages are located away from the busier accommodation, pool and restaurant, so less busy.
The cottage was clean, well-equipped and spacious, with good views of the wildlife from the cottage's braai area.
The cottages can be quite cold, but the wood-burning fireplace helped warm up the cottage quite well once it was burning for a while (wood available for purchase at the shop).
It's an absolute beaut to stay on the River.
Indoor braai and the walks down to the riverside was awesome.
Ample space.
The Double Bunks make up for more space for more people which is great.
The cupboards was dirty
And the fridge had a smell
All in all very nice stay.
The Bees came out the Sunday but scary though just glad it was after we had a blast there.

A great rustic lodge experience with outdoor fire-heated hot tub by the river, very close (about 30 mins drive) to De Hoop national park. The location itself is about 10 mins from the trading post that has all the basics, and about 10 mins from the local town with a petrol station. Access by car is a must. Excellent for families or groups of friends. Kayaks are available to use free of charge and the place is full of wildlife. A quieter and more secluded alternative to the De Hoop collection or main hotel in Malgas.
Imagine having a river view, delectable meals and wonderfully pleasant staff. This is Malgas Hotel. Riverboats, peace and quiet surrounded by nature, and staff to meet your every need. A night cap next to a warm cracking fire is just what you need to end off a wonderful day before tucking in to your warm bed for a night of rest for your body and soul.
Malagas Hotel is close to De Hoop Nature Reserve, a very beautiful area. The garden is very nice and so is the balcony. The staff is super friendly and pollite. Also the room was clean and comfortable. The best thing, however, was the dinner. Super delicious!
We were in desperate need of some peace and quiet and we found that at Malaga’s hotel! All the staff were so friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and will definitely be going back
