Title: Shangri-La Manor: Our Personal Slice of Paradise!
If you’re looking for the perfect hideaway where relaxation meets adventure, let me tell you about our recent stay at Shangri-La Manor in Wilderness, Western Cape. It truly felt like stumbling into a dream—if dreams came with the warmest family vibes and an honesty bar that would make even your local pub blush!
From the moment we arrived, we felt as though we had been wrapped in a blanket of tranquility. The owners welcomed us like long-lost relatives, eager to share their oasis with us. And what an oasis it is! Nestled away and surrounded by nature, you can hear the birds cheering you on as you settle into this lovely manor.
Picture this: we woke up each morning to the sweet sounds of birdsong and the gentle rustling of leaves, stepping out onto a patio that felt like it was plucked straight from a postcard. And let’s not forget the river at the bottom of the property! Our canoe adventure to the stunning waterfall was nothing short of magical. Paddling through the serene waters, we felt like explorers (even if we barely made it five minutes without giggling and splashing each other).
With nature’s beauty all around, we had plenty of options for activities. Want a thrill? Try the paragliding nearby! The only thing more exhilarating than the view was the heart-stopping moment when we realized how high we were. And if you’re in the mood for a more grounded experience, quaint little markets and shops are just close enough for a leisurely stroll, yet far enough away that your peace remains undisturbed.
But what really set Shangri-La apart was the little touches—the attention to detail was impeccable. You’d find snacks lovingly placed around, and the honesty bar? Pure genius! Picture this: you can pour yourself a drink while lounging in the beautiful garden, all while knowing you’re on the honor system. It felt like being trusted with a secret club of relaxation!

Hoekwil is beautiful with lots to see - there is a big tree nearby which you can visit (make sure to wear comfortable shoes). There are also a few nice places to eat, drink coffee and enjoy the quiet surrounds. The accommodation in the area is also very nice and neat.
