The booking was done through Booking.com. After the booking was made and paid for, i called and made sure all was good for the stay, all confirmed 100%. I then got an email saying i needed to pay an extra R250 due to wanting a room with a view. I begrudgingly accepted. Upon arrival the bill was R775 not the R250 agreed upon, when i queried it, I was met with a rebuttal stating well 'accept it'. I was NOT happy about this and let the GM on duty know my feelings about it. Then i booked dinner for two at 20h00. I arrived with my GF and we ordered starters, mine was beef carpaccio, at 21h15 we had not received our starters as yet. I queried it and the same GM came to my table apologising and stating the dinner was 'on the house'. I accepted but at same time said to him look the restaurant closes at 22h00 so i needed to order the mains as well. Long story short, the carpaccio was something that was probably shot in the woods and dragged along the road, it was sinewy, had fat in it, a carpaccio No no. My Sirloin was harder than the plate it was served on, remember this meal was on the house and i did not even finish it. The same GM then said he was talking to the chef. The chef cam to see me, apologising profusely for the mess. I politely pointed out to her that we were one of three tables around us that had also complained about various aspects of the delivery and the service, in a nutshell it was pathetic. The service was untrained, the responses were unacceptable and for a so-called 'four star establishment' it could barely garner two! Very disappointed.

An ideal destination to get away from city life for a few...
An ideal destination to get away from city life for a few days. Horse riding, Quad biking, Hiking, Swimming in the dam, Highland Coffee Roastery, Clementines Restaurant, Clarens Brewery to name a few of our highlights. Browsing the plethora of shops, galleries and the friendliness of all the hosts is a fantastic aid to recharging the batteries and enjoying a relaxing time away.

Lovely vibe with lots of quaint shops.
Lovely vibe with lots of quaint shops. Too much of the same things, however. Great restaurants can certainly recommend Clementines for great food and ambience. Close to the beautiful Golden Gate Reserve.

It’s such a beautiful place!
It’s such a beautiful place! Hiking at Golden Gate is a must! A lazy day browsing the shops with all the gorgeous handmade goodies a treat. Visiting the bakery Moocca Gelato with their decadent cheesecake and other baked goodies, to fine dining at Treat Restaurant or popping in at Cinnamon & Sugar on your way to Golden Gate for scrumptious home made bread sandwiches! Visiting Four Paws Sanctuary and learning about true conservation and seeing beautiful leopard, tigers and lions, as well as other wildlife! Hiking up to Kloof Dam and having a picnic while birdwatching. Such a breathtaking place to visit.

Really beautiful little town with lots to do.
Really beautiful little town with lots to do. So much to see. We loved that every shop and restaurant was unique in it's own way. We could pretty much walk everywhere we wanted to go. We felt safe, which is a great feeling in South Africa. We will definitely return. We loved every second.

Like all small towns these days, infra structure is failing.
Like all small towns these days, infra structure is failing. The dirt roads in the town are in terrible condition. The numerous shops, stalls and restaurants however, radiate a very festive atmosphere and makes shopping at the various little shops a truly pleasant experience.

The facility was an absolute stunner and must be one of the best (if not the best) in Clarens after only open for 3 months. The rooms are spacious, the decor superb and different! The owner and staff magic and super helpful! The on site manager, Meitjie, is a star and available for any questions, explanations and more....a super woman! The relaxation area is fantastic! Two BBQ areas for self use even more of a feature!
The Chilli Traveler recommends the 360 Hotel for anybody that wants to be spoilt and enjoy luxury in a simple way!
Over the Easter Weekend we stayed at Firepit@Clarens in the Clarens Golf Estate.
The house was very clean and neat and it has ample parking.
The house is newly renovated because it use to be two separate units and unfortunately it still feels like two separate units.
We had a very enjoyable stay but we just want to bring a couple of things to the host’s attention.
