A good value cottage for one night’s stay. It might be a little small if you wanted to stay longer. It was well equipped with everything you need. There are two cottages - if you want a lovely view, choose Lucerne. The owners were on site and very helpful. When we booked we then discovered that the restaurants in Calitzdorp are mostly closed on a Monday night which meant catering for ourselves.

It was close to everything. Although it was next to the owners we were never in each others space. Shirley and Roger quietly assisted where ever they could and are super friendly and helpfull hosts. We will definitely use them again. It is quiet and tranquil. The outaide area of our unit had the most gorgeous succulants. On the day of our arrival we were running late and Shirley arranged 3 braaipacks to be placed in our fridge, together with food, firelighters and matches that were waiting at the braai for us. With complementary port. Super comfortable and well worth it. Did not want to come home. Thank you Shirley and Roger for you hospitality.

I've stayed in Calitzdorp and it's surrounds several times and I love it.
If you're a traveler to South Africa, you need to plan to also go over the mountains separating the coastal Western Cape FROM the Klein Karroo.
The Western Cape coastal influence is frankly tamer, albeit very beautiful BUT is very reminiscent of parts of Europe.
The Klein Karroo is hasher in geography, topography, agriculture and people.
It's pure magic AND the people are very friendly and helpful.
Go there, it's a good experience.

Die Bakhius was great for a easy supper.
Die Bakhius was great for a easy supper.
TTT wines and "the liquor that cannot be called Port" were excellent
The architecture is interesting.
The weather was exceptionally hot and you may, ideally, want to go in autumn or spring, for example, during the Port Festival

Challenged myself by walking a few miles from Calitzdorp...
Challenged myself by walking a few miles from Calitzdorp towards Oudtshoorn on the R62 ,enjoying the last of the Autumn sun.Alongside the road lot of cars past me,i didnt care about them. I was surounded by the beautiful landscape of Mountains ,karoo bossies and clear blue sky.Got a few honks from the heavy vehicles passing me by.That encouraged me even more .Made the walk pleasant experience.Few miles from my destination,i got tired and gave in.Got a lift from passing car.My phone was off.Must say pictures could not do justice for this walk. Must experience it your self. My resting place tonight is amazing .....i needed this ,after hectic working long weekend.Favorite place were the Museum. They also have bikes to hire at the Calitzdorp Tourism centre near the garage.Winetesting with the friendly staff

This little Klein Karoo town has a wonderful bygone era...
This little Klein Karoo town has a wonderful bygone era atmosphere. It's quiet, and all the amenities are closely set among the town centre, making walking around a great way to discover little hidden gems, like the Museum. There are plenty of wine tasting options too, some further away that would need the use of a car.
Restaurant options are limited, which is disappointing.
I also felt quite safe walking around, which was a great bonus!
Go, you'll enjoy it, and two nights is enough!

No fine dining but great for wine tasting.
No fine dining but great for wine tasting.
We sampled The Kranz under their grape vines, The Calitzdorp Cellar (stunning terrace view), Boplass. Lastly driving down a safe gravel road so typical of being off the beaten track and stopping at Du Swa Roo where we enjoyed informal fun tasting wines with the delightful and knowledgable Riana, sampling wine and tapas.
We hope to return one day:)

Calitzdorp is good for one or two nights stay.
Calitzdorp is good for one or two nights stay. It is a small town with not too much to do, about five lovely wine farms and a historical walk through town. Not many options at night where to have a meal although we did find the Bakhuis, with devine pizza's. I would definitely want to go back but this time to do some hiking trails and mtb.

The cottage was well appointed, spacious and extremely clean and comfortable. There was a filter on the kitchen tap and cold water in the fridge for us. Lots on interesting books on the bookshelf. Kevin gave us a map of Route 62 to use on our trip, which was very useful. Can highly recommend Gasteria Grange. Pity we only stayed 1 night
Loved everything about the place, it is at a beautiful secluded area away from noise. The surrounding area is extremely beautiful. The space we rented had more in as expected and we absolutely loved how warm and homely it made us feel. Keep up the good work.
The cottage was very well put together and had character. There were fresh flowers and complimentary muffins. although we did not make use of it, the honesty pantry was a great option. Enough space for 4 adults. Nice outdoor area.
Super cute studio, that is spacious and well equipped for short or longer stays. Clean, comfortable bed, friendly owners and quiet at night. Will stay again for sure!
