Karoo Art Hotel, hotel in Barrydale

Located in Barrydale, 22 miles from Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve, Karoo Art Hotel has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

My stay at the Karoo Art Hotel felt like a home away from home! From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, friendly, and made me feel genuinely welcome. The hotel has a variety of charming spaces to relax in—whether soaking up the sun on the beautiful stoep, unwinding in the cosy bar, or admiring the exquisite art and stunning furniture arranged throughout. The food was simply outstanding! I enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the restaurant, and every meal was top-notch, thanks to the exceptional chef Derek Lowe. My room was spacious, spotless, and had all the amenities I needed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the small balcony provided a breathtaking view. Overall, I absolutely loved my stay and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!

Barrydale has some quirky little shops, coffee shops and a very interesting African art museum and curio shop. Everything closes at 4 p.m. along the main road, so the Karoo Art Hotel is a good choice for dinner. It was nice seeing Barrydale, but it is small enough to do within a couple of hours.

Quaint little town on the well-known Route 62.

Quaint little town on the well-known Route 62. The main activity at the moment seems to be as one enters the town from the east, and the brandy tasting and weaving mills are definitely worth a visit. The only problem for now is that the main road is being resurfaced, but once this is complete the centre of the town will again be much more attractive. The beautiful surrounding mountains and scenery in the meantime are good compensation, as are several interesting shops. There are also several interesting places to eat.

The people in Barrydale are super friendly and welcoming.

The people in Barrydale are super friendly and welcoming. We stopped at a few of the local stores and were always greated with smiles and hearty hello's. Antiques at Papa Joe's Trinkets at LA Kroo Crafts Milkshakes at Diesel and Creme Cheesecake at Camel Horse Cafe and Hake and chips at the Karoo Lodge Are just some of the delights this little town has to offer.

A beautiful town with so much to explore.

A beautiful town with so much to explore. For tourists s longer stay is advisable to see everything this lovely place has to offer. But it also offers perfect overnight stops when passing through. We recommend Barrydale Karoo Lodge. With an in-house pub and restaurant, you need nothing more.

Loved the setting and the rustic yet comfortable chalet which is very spacious. Zebra, wildebeest and blesbok virtually on your stoep with the magnificent mountain backdrop. Relatively close to Barrydale itself and so quiet at night.

Clean and neat, spacious facilities, convenient safe parking with a generator that ensured that we had electricity all the time while the rest of Barrydale suffered from severe load shedding
