This is a good/bad thing. We never met host. Gate code worked. Finding room 1 a spacious king bed room with fridge and bath. Pretty new condition. A couple well behaved dogs met us at gate. Kitchen tableware sufficient for take away dinner and yogurt breakfast. Would of washed up afterwards, but no dish soap. No liner for wire bin so we put trash in take away bag.

Nice little town worth stopping over between Gauteng and Eastern Cape. The swimming pool at the Spa is worth a visit for some respite from the heat. Not all facilities there have been fully maintained, but still good for a swim and relaxing on the lawns under shady trees. Steaks at The Little Ranch are amazing and you will be hard pressed to find a better steak anywhere.

We did not have time to get around but our host, Faith was just the greatest person to meet and hear about the place, the pro's and con's and everything in between. She was most inspiring and her story touched our hearts. We were extremely happy to be there with our 2 yorkies who were made to feel right at home. It was just a pity that we had such a short overnight stay. The breakfast was expectational, made with love and care. Would gladly recommend Aliwal North to follow travellers.

We passed through Aliwal North on our way home and selected this guest house to break our long journey into two bite-sized distances. The guesthouse was fine for a one night stayover. There was only one restaurant in town that was open for supper. We found the town itself rather dull.
