Albertinia is a small country town without the big fast food take aways . Very rural . You can buy the basics at one of the cafes or Pizza place . There is not much as far as shops go so it is a stopover to break a long journey or a week or two of total peace and quite without too many modern day interruptions. There is a braai area and all you could want to have to have an enjoyable stop and a good night's sleep and no rush to get you out in the morning .. I simply bought rolls and cold meat and yogurt at Piet se kafee as I did not want to cook . Coffee is provided although if to a heavy coffee drinker you may want to buy a bit extra as most guest houses only give you enough for two or three cups of coffee . I had a nice chat with the owner who told me about the abundance of underground water and about the area in general...This is not a property where you can come in and drink and party and be a nuisance to others . . No smoking inside the chalets which is excellent @

Albertinia is a quiet little town in the Karoo with a unique and charming character. It's small enough that you can walk anywhere that you want.
There are some very nice restaurants around that serve traditional dishes.
Visiting some of the camping sites around the area is a must, as they are located in some of the most spectacular Karoo veld around!

Great for a one night stay.
Great for a one night stay. Food was excellent and the staff extremely helpful. Guide was very knowledgeable. Only downside was would’ve had to stay another night to see the giraffes.

A big, intriguing house in huge lovely garden, with a two huge amazing Ficus trees - wonderful! I had a large, very comfortable room with everything I needed, including a fridge - always essential for a traveller! Fully equipped kitchen is available for guests, if they would like to self-cater.
Very helpful staff - booked me a table at nearby hotel for supper - just what I needed. Great breakfast, served on upstairs verandah, overlooking that lovely garden. Altogether a perfect stay. Thank you.
We enjoyed our stay at this lovely cabin very much. We were welcomed by our host and the friendly Arabian horse, Ali. The Cabin was neat and fully equipped with the necessary needed to make our stay comfortable. We will definitely stay at Brakvlei Cabins again when we visit Albertinia, South Africa, again. Nice wooden cottage surrounded by a large garden with seating areas. Ali the resident horse was a delight to have around, he greeted us host on arrival and in the morning, peacefully grazing about. The host was friendly and ensured effortless arrival and departure. An ideal place to stay at in Albertinia.
