North Nicosia and North Cyprus are much less touristy and developed than south Cyprus. It's quieter and less hurried than the south but much more care and personal attention are given. I wish that I had stayed longer so I could have spent more time visiting some of the beautiful, undeveloped beaches, not a beach umbrella to be seen. However, it is much poorer than the south so it is more difficult to find the Irish pubs and chips that are ubiquitous in the south.

Interesting city.
Interesting city. Plenty of historical buildings to visit, like the Khans. Cheap entrance prices to museums, some are even free. Didn't really enjoy the Museum of the Walled City, although there is some incredible art in there from other Turk countries. Lots of really lovely cafes and restaurants. Try the Iskemleci, the food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. Very safe city, small and easy to walk around.

Traditional Turkish food, eat anywhere and it's cheap in Turkish Lira.
I absolutely love the entire experience!

Just like any city, some nice areas (dereboyu) some run down areas (old city) but their are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and retail outlets offering excellent value for money. But a car/moped/bike are a must as the public transport system is pretty poor at the moment.

The Central House with Garden in Nicosia was so very disappointing. The host was most unhelpful when I had problems with my booking dates. Both my inbound and outbound flights with Pegasus airlines were cancelled so I could only stay 2/4 nights at the property. The owner would not consider either free cancellation or partial refund. I paid €146 for 2 nights.
The house was old and musty. The garden was shared with neighbors and was brown and unkempt. He provided a dismal breakfast. Some loose slices of bread and a block of cheese with some extremely old fruit and veg! (1 tomato, 1 apple, 1 peach and 1 small cucumber) this I finished the first day but he would not provide more food so after paying so much money I still had to buy my breakfast the next morning. As I was in Cyprus for a medical procedure this situation was far from ideal as I was not feeling up to shopping after my Dr appointment.
This man is extremely eloquent and a master of polite evasion with regards to partial refund. He is bound neither 'legally or morally' in his own words. He and this property are extremely disappointing and create a very bad impression of North Cyprus.
